Hopefully Ford switches to a different adapter supplier (such as A2Z) to help fulfill their customer orders. I've suggested this to them months ago. Tesla appears unable to fulfill their commitment and won't respond.

Blame Musk.
Here's the issue that Ford has, IMO.

Ford has a deal with Elmo to use his chargers. Elmo doesn't allow any 3rd party anything. If Ford pisses off Elmo, Elmo turns off the switch. "No he won't do that" doesn't work with Elmo. He does whatever he wants. Ford, GM, ... - none of them can take that chance.

Has anyone used the Lectron adapter?

There's a discounted package from Lectron that includes the adapter and a 48amp charger for $519.00.

Useful thoughts on the value of this package would be greatly appreciated.
Yes. Several have reported them overheating in hot weather and shutting down the session. A2ZEV has no issue with heat. https://a2zevshop.com/products/nacs-ccs1?ref=Typhoon&variant=43186507579592

Went to go check my order status.

My June delivery which was July when I last checked a week ago, has now been moved to September.

More annoyed that Ford didn't send an email letting me know.
Ford sent me an email and bumped me a month.

Ford disappoints me from time to time. I really miss the hard physical trunk button. The difficulty of accessing the 12v battery (easy in every other car i have owned, as it is a consumable). The flakey driver facing camera that i have been to the dealer 4 times for, at this point. The missing precondition. The abysmal rear suspension.

Lectron also disappointed me. They said they would ship an adapter in two weeks, i cancelled after 6. I was delighted when they have me a no questions asked full refund. I was disappointed by the a2z, it is hard to use. But it exists and it works, which delights me.

Ford has, overall, delighted me. On balance i love this car. I enjoy, even on the slowest trim, the occasional kick in the pants acceleration. I enjoy that we were the first brand to have supercharger access. I enjoy ford's conservative approach to battery engineering. I really enjoy bluecruise. I enjoy the bright paint not available in other makes. I really enjoy the Android auto. Oh, and they were really good to refund some of my money when i bought right before a price drop. They will get a lot of loyalty out of me for that one.

I strongly suggest if you care about supercharger access, buy an aftermarket.

At some point, fooled me twice, shame on me, right?

Rick,
Thanks for your info on the Lectron. Also. Drilling deeper into the specs on the charger, the cable is only 16ft long. So won't work for my application.
Lastly, dealing with Elmo is like hitting your thumb with a hammer. No matter how many times you do so it hurts.

I've had two for over a month. One from both companies that have them out right now. They are $200 or less. Just everyone buy the things and stop crying when you're driving such an expensive car.
You can call discussion (the purpose of this forum) “crying” all you want. We’re still going to discuss it. If it offends you, maybe you should skip the threads that are clearly and obviously about this topic.

As some have already pointed out, many who are waiting for the Ford-supplied adaptor have already bought one of the third-party ones. Having an adaptor already on hand doesn’t mean we can’t still wonder where the free one is.

And before the inevitable “Ford didn’t have to…” responses come in, let me point out how completely irrelevant that is. Correct, Ford didn’t have to promise free adaptors to anyone. Yet, they did. And it’s completely reasonable for those of us promised something to expect it within a reasonable manufacturing timeframe. For those of us with original May, June, and July shipping estimates, that has passed. If those estimates hadn’t been totally reasonable and easily achievable to begin with, Ford wouldn’t have issued them.

I know the problem is a supplier issue. Elon is making Ford look like a bunch of fools, and he’s doing it very much on purpose. Those who say there’s no need to ascribe intention to it simply don’t understand the man. Yes, he’s THAT childish and self-destructive.

I got this email yesterday. My res number is 670_.

"Due to ongoing supply constraints, there is a further delay of your complimentary Fast Charging Adapter. We know this is frustrating. Thank you for your continued patience.

To expedite your adapter delivery, we are rapidly working with our supply base to increase high-quality production. We are confident we will have a solution in the coming weeks. As adapter supply increases, our goal is to work as fast as possible to get your adapter to you.

We will continue to update you on the estimated timing of your adapter. In the meantime, make sure you’re ready to Plug & Charge with Tesla Superchargers by setting your vehicle’s automatic software updates to “On.”"

Tesla is building them or causing them to be built. They’re directly or indirectly in control of the production. Ford is also the first in line for the adapters. Rivian and GM immediately follow, then everyone else.

Third party adapters are not supported. While it’s true that they do work, and work quite well, the only supported adapter is the one designed and manufactured by, or manufactured to the design and specs of Tesla. Tesla wants to control the quality and specs of adapters connecting to its chargers.

I rather seriously doubt Ford could contract with a third party for a different adapter and simultaneously stay in compliance with their Tesla NACS contract.
I think your conclusion is accurate. Ford would likely need Tesla’s agreement to bring an additional supplier on board.

They sent this out after the date changes had been made.

That doesn't seem like a deal. I bought both comparable adapters from A2Z for $252 a couple of months ago.

I don't get software updates anymore :(. Went to the dealer to have it checked out, they said I just need to be patient. Last update was 4.2.5 on March 6, 2024.

I got an email... Meh. I've been using my A2Z and it's awesome. Used it three times on the longest roadtrip I've ever taken in Carlos and it worked flawlessly. Was on a long stretch of highway with very little in the way of J-1772 let alone CCS and after one charge felt confident enough to keep going on NACS for the rest of the trip. :)

That's sort of an odd combo since many of us already have a home charger. A2Z has a good bundle with both the Tesla Supercharger adapter and the Tesla destination charger adapter for $290 (and 10% off with the code MACHEVLOG):

This Lectron package includes ONE adapter and ONE 48amp charger w/h a 14-50 plug. If the adapter costs about $200.00 from others, then that makes the 48amp Lectron charger about $320.00.
However the report from the Forum suggests that the Lectron adapter has an overheating issue. Also, the charger has a 16ft cord. Too short for my application.

Right. It's currently $261 (with code FORDFORUM), because you got the Typhoon and the Typhoon Pro (new version, old no longer available) is a bit more expensive.
