I can't recall any recent postings about actually receiving the Tesla/Ford adapter. Has it really been months since there has been any action?
What is the most recent receipt of this puppy and what was your order number? I'm in the 28,000 range and have been pushed back to September but I have been disappointed and/or lied to before.

Correct. No updates. If you want to have an adapter by a certain time, probably worth spending the money for one of the third party ones from A2Z or Lectron. Otherwise, we get to be patient.

Ford has gotten 2 batches from Tesla (the supplier). The first delivered in April, the second delivered in June.

It appears Rivian (who's in the same boat) got a batch in May, then a second in July.

The batches have been small so far (a few thousand). Ford updated to September for the next batch, but unless something big is happening (like an additional supplier?), it's very slow going.

#4911.

Arrived early in early June to my surprise.

FordPass still shows as "Currently in production" with an ETA of June 2024. I wonder how long it will take for that to be updated, or if I'll receive a second adapter with the next batch ?‍♂

I think they are going to add another supplier. Perhaps they are working with Tesla to certify that supplier right now.

Many people (myself included) got an email from Ford about a week ago regarding "ongoing supply constraints".
That same email that I received implies a new supplier:

To expedite your adapter delivery, we are rapidly working with our supply base to increase high-quality production. We are confident we will have a solution in the coming weeks.
"working with out supply base to increase production..." "confident we will have a solution in the coming weeks."

Yeah, that's what I've been expecting too, unless they've gotten some dramatic update from Tesla about increasing production 20x by Labor Day.

A 2-3 month delay was manageable. But current pace puts customers with a 70,000 order number somewhere around 2027. Obviously untenable. If Tesla can't deliver soon, they've gotta make other plans.

Hopefully we see some shipments the next couple weeks for August.

I believe the batches are 2000-5000 vin numbers between Ford or Rivian per shipment.

This is just based on what members have been posting across the forums.

No they don’t have to. They probably want to but a lot of that is going to be specific to the contract Ford has with Tesla allowing access to the Supercharger and how willing Tesla is to amend the contract at this point, should there be restrictions.

As usual, the devil is in the details.

Yeah I think you’re right about this. According the Out of Spec YouTube video from 3 days ago, apparently GM has found a way. GM apparently has contracted with a 3rd party (Lectron) to supply adapters.

Yeah, I wondered if the contract with Tesla for Ford access to SCs is written such that only Tesla can supply Ford with adapters. But even if so, and if Tesla were unwilling to release them from that exclusivity (due to their OWN failure to deliver), Ford could still handle it differently with their customers.

For example, they could tell everyone with an existing free adapter order: "We apologize for the supply delays. Since we are unable to acquire sufficient supply on a timely basis, we have decided to cancel all outstanding orders, and issue you a $200 Visa gift card to use however you wish. As we do receive shipments of adapters from our supplier, we will make them available for purchase through Ford Parts. We anticipate supply to be limited for some time, however.".

Those that really want one, but don't want to end up with 2 when the free one finally shows up, would be freed up to just buy 3rd party.

This seems like a really good idea and would satiate most customers.

They can't do this or they'd have to admit the 3rd party adapters actually work. I'm sure both Ford and Tesla only want customers using the Tesla/Ford adapter so they can sell a bunch in the future.
