Given I said earlier that the Mach-E was similar in size to the 2020 Escape, lets compare shall we:

(All #'s in inches)2020 Escape2021 Mach-E
Wheelbase106.7117
Overall Length181186
Overall Width (excl Mirrors)7474
Height6664
Track Width Front62.464
Track Width Rear61.864
So it would appear that the MME is longer, and a tad lower than the Escape (Note that the Mach-E's width doesn't specify if it is with or without mirrors I'm assuming it is without because the Escape's width without mirrors is exactly the same--including mirrors baloons the Escape's width up to 85.6 inches).

I would wager that the extra length in the Mach-E is the "Mustang hood" combined with the "fake" fastback (although the 2020 Escape to me looks like its got a long hood too).

Given these values are so similar I would expect the view out the back (and front and sides) to be similar between the vehicles.

Still sucks that all those numbers are larger for the MME except the only one that I really wish was -- height.

Sure, but every few years when my eyes change enough to get new glasses I have to buy 5 pairs so I normally skimp on the sunglasses since 99.9% I'm just looking out the windows and not at waze. My near vision is actually barely corrected so lifting the sunglasses is fine to see waze. I was exaggerating about the speedo; it is actually big/clear enough to read with my distance prescription.
I have same problem, can't see gauges apps etc. Without my progressive lens'. The transition lenses don't get dark inside the car. I don't glasses to drive. So I buy cheap $5 bi-focal reader sunglasses with my mid range 1.5 correction on the bottom. They look like Ray-bans. They work great.

That review mirror is cool but I couldn't use it. As someone who needs reading glasses (yeah I'm old) I found it difficult to focus on the video mirror which made it more distracting than it should be.

With a normal mirror your eyes remain focused at infinity so its easy to switch from looking out the front to the rear view mirror and back but with the video mirror your focus shifts to looking at a monitor...
That's a reason it shouldn't be necessary to use a computer screen to drive. However, I noticed the icon sizes used by Ford on the demo displays look to be good size both to see at a glance and to aim. Garmin was one of the early pioneers of in car touchscreen, their large icon simplified layouts were something to learn from.

The problem on the rear window visibility looks similar to the problem with the Tesla Y & 3. The window bottom is too high up and cuts off the lower part of the view. However, this pic of the two together shows the ME has a noticeably larger view area even when taking the blacked out part into consideration. Still small, but not nearly as bad. If the middle headrest comes out, that will help. too bad the car doesn't have a rear headrest flop down button like volvo suv's do. That would work wonders here.

Wow, the Model Y looks VERY limited there. The MME looks like almost twice the window height.

Usually there's not much lower to the ground to need to see while driving though (unless you're towing a trailer). And when slowly backing up, all the beeping sensors and camera kicks in anyway. I mainly just want a clear view of the other vehicles around me (including behind) when driving forward, for anticipating lanes changes, turns, etc.

Good point. I can't find anything in the writeups on if it is removable.

They should all be able to be removed, the side head rests will bock the most view, euro cars tend to have nice head rests that can sit flush the same as the center, that you push up when sitting in the rear seat while the USA always gets ones the same as the front that block most of the view out back even when nobody is sitting back there :(. It will be interesting to see if the euro mach-e ends up keeping the current USA style or gets the Euro flush type if it does then going to have to be one of the first modifications on my list.

Modern c-pillars are pretty bad when it come to blocking the view the mach-e token port hole doesn't make it any better so the blind spot mirrors are a necessity. Overall the view out back looks similar to my focus so not that great but livable, however everyone one has a different idea of livable bearing in mind I used to own a 3dr seirra cosworth and an escort cosworth so my idea of livable rear visibility others may well find terrible lol

More navigation shots, from Mike Levine via Twitter.

He's pointing out how you can filter by DC FC in the built in nav, but perhaps not via Apple Maps. Also, he shows charging locations for a projected trip from LA to Phoenix.

The one thing I think I will miss the most when I get my MME is the video rear view mirror in my Bolt. I love that thing--no obstructions for the rearward view such as headrests or people and a wide angle view that is extremely handy. I will miss it.

I had the same issue (old with reading glasses) and the change to short focus distance was difficult to deal with. Even so, I think it is a GREAT IDEA and can be useful for those of us with vision issues under certain conditions. The fact that it is AVAILABLE with the standard rear-view-mirror being the default is, I feel the best of both worlds.
