@Ford Motor Company and @Ford Team there are many of us with 2021 Mach E orders that are very frustrated by the multiple delays and the lack of communication regards the same from your company. We have all at different points of time considered, are considering or are beyond walking away from our orders to entertain taking our business to more professional establishments. Some of our major concerns include:
  • Getting a 2021 model delivered in the 2022 calendar year. This is a slap in our faces to be getting a car that's already depreciated in value and borderline illegal to build a 2021 model in 2022. Many of us have order dating back to April 2021 and were promised deliveries within a 16-24 week time frame. We are already well beyond any of those windows.
  • There are multiple users with order dates well after us that have already received their cars.
  • There are also many user with order dates before ours that were converted to 2022 models along with getting a nice credit on their account, not sure how and why we got bumped down the list.
  • Our build dates have been pushed back from October to November to finally the week of 12/6/21. After which our cars have been dumped offsite awaiting microchips. There have been no updates from Ford since on when this is going to get resolved. Meanwhile cars continue to get built, assembled and shipped even on the 2022 models.
  • We noticed that there was another group from an October build week that is only now getting their vehicles shipped. A similar time frame for would push our deliveries into Aril / May 2022, which is absolutely unacceptable.
You owe all of us some basic answers and updates on our cars. That's the least from a company with a storied legacy to live up to. Don't forget that you are in a very competitive segment of the industry and word of mouth will be big complementary part of your success.

I will let the many other chime about their experiences. When and if contacted by you we can DM you our VIN # and dealership details. We all want you to do the right thing.

@Ford Team @Ford Motor Company I don't have much to add that has not been said above, but would just reiterate how frustrating and disappointing of an experience this has been. I also seem to have the latest estimated delivery date of anyone in this group on chip hold (2/14) and don't understand why mine is even later than everyone else in a similar situation. Doesn't give me much confidence in Ford.

In the same boat here. Ordered a CA Rt1 2021 in July 2021. Had build dates of 10/18 -> 11/1 -> 11/8 -> 11/22 -> 11/29 -> 12/6. It's now showing as in production since 12/10 with no movement or other details. Seeing 2022's get built whilst my car (and others in this thread) are still in limbo is a real kick in the teeth. Dealership can tell me nothing, and neither have Ford marketing when I've called up either. I have a Tesla Model Y on order as a fallback, due in March/April but I'd really prefer the Mach-E. Lack of a response is making it harder to justify not taking it when it arrives. A proper response would be the least you can do for us all.

My (sad, frustrating) story:

Order confirmed by Ford 5/16, got a email from Ford that I'd been scheduled for the build week of 11/1. That slid several times until it stuck at 12/6; per the Online Tracker, the build actually started on 12/11, with delivery scheduled for 12/31, where it stayed for about a week into 2022. Delivery date changed to 1/31/22, then, encouragingly, to 1/30, and now: TBD. I'm officially on The Island Of Lost Cars.

The car is alive, to some degree; I was able to request activation through FordPass.

My wife thinks we'd get a car faster if we cancel and order another. Maybe; MY22 cars seem to be doing better than our neglected ponies.

Our order was accepted on 3/24 with a build date of 9/27. The tracker still shows the car is in production. Ford has assigned a case number to the order but I haven't heard anything. I'm disappointed that I will be receiving a 2021. Premium w/Extended Battery. Our dealer has been great and loaned us a car to drive since July so I am torn about walking away from the order.

Ordered a 4X on 4/23/21 and never got a build date. Somehow dealer never updated my ‘21 to a ‘22 after calling them multiple times a week in through Oct. and Nov.

Dealer had me order a 2nd vehicle through them with no deposit end of November so I likely won’t get the model year conversion credit. Signed the order form in person early Dec.

I expect I will have waited 15+ months for the car. If it ever gets here.

I ordered my MME on 4/28 and have made the exact same complaints to Ford, which have fallen on deaf ears. I am convinced the Company wanted to build and incur all expenses in 2021 and take the revenues in 2022 to boost its stock price.

In 1998 I swore I would never buy a Ford again and here I am disappointed AGAIN. I ran the loan numbers today and the payment has gone up because the residual value has fallen due to the vehicle age. The only reason I'm holding out is for the federal tax credit.

This isnt a startup. The revenues from a handful of MMEs will have a negligible impact on Fords earnings, much less stock price. I suppose “total delivered EVs” could be gamed a bit, but will likely still be rounding error compared to total 2022 numbers.

Sometimes incompetence is just that…with no malicious intent.

Most decisions revolve around money. Revenues with no expense offset are more than just margin.

I think a lot of the frustration stems from a lack of communication. People realize the issues related to the pandemic but any time you talk to someone at Ford, you get a run around. Marketing says to talk to the dealer, the dealer says to talk to marketing, marketing somehow connects you to customer service who calls back a few weeks later and says it is an issue for marketing. ??‍♂

While it also might be a bit much to expect for a car company, when people order things online they are accustomed to being able to track them. And, they also expect to receive them within the delivery window. Every night in my TV market, I see commercials to custom order your Ford SUV. It is being pushed pretty hard and with that ad push there should be some better service. The email that goes out the night before your delivery window ends saying that your vehicle delivery is delayed for at least another month “to ensure your complete satisfaction” is maddening!

Spoken like somebody that has no idea what they are talking about. I’ll admit I’m not an accountant, but I’m pretty sure you can’t just book the expenses in one year and revenues in another. Pretty sure that’s not how GAAP works (but I could be wrong).

Also, the fact that you think Ford would purposely NOT deliver vehicles (on the order of about 500 out of 10 million) in order to somehow juice their stock price is sort of ridiculous. Im not sure in what universe that makes sense. Even Elon would rather deliver a shitty built car at the end of the quarter than none at all, and he’s the king of stock price manipulation.

Apparently you know everything and speculate to make your points.

At this point it really doesn't matter to any of us why Ford's got this backlog of 2021 cars rolled over into 2022. What we are trying to do is present a united front and present enough genuine cases on this thread to Ford so they feel our pain, and can possibly give us something more real than a past date for estimated delivery at this time.

@Ford Motor Company is unlikely to address your concerns in an open forum. The people running that account are far removed from those who had anything to go with your cars.

I’d suggest contacting a few directors and VPs via email and Kay out the facts snd your concerns. Start with the Customer Experience Officers and move up the ladder.

They can be found here:
