Interesting. 6 months ago I said “Macan EV.”

I wasn’t too far off. I ended up with a Porsche Taycan 4S

Very interesting. I was recently very close to a used 2025 Macan electric turbo, but dealer arrogance blocked the sale. I just got the Audi rs etron gt…..I opened the frunk and found this:

today - if my Mache went away the Taycan 4s or taycan grand sport(?) EV - used - would be the replacement. Used an exceptional vehicle value but a long term warranty/ maintenance package would be required.

a few appeared locally but I decided not to do the test drive… I did not want to open the emotions and angst of returning to a Porsche. And the old GTPE is just fine - not perfect but for the $ and more certainly good enough

Yeah don’t go to the puppy store picking up puppies until you’re ready to take one home. 😂

GTS is the next model above the 4S.

I do love the Porsche, but it’s not a “everything is better” swap. Definitely some trade offs in terms of storage, convenience, ease to get in and out and of course price.

It’s so dang pretty though. Outside of exotics, I honestly think it’s one of the best looking cars on the road.

…”ease to get in and out”…..is a REAL concern. The Taycan and e-tron are low…very low. I try not to look stupid in parking lots.

But probably the post Juniper Model Y for FSD, + Bronco Sport. I’m in the east so less use for the big Bronco

Lotus Emeya if I’m really rich and they’ve fixed their ADAS/not hit by overwhelming tariffs

Mach E successor if it has competitive ADAS + fun to drive

I’ve lost interest in Porsche somehow; partly it’s their lack of 1 pedal drive, yeah yeah their race track heritage, but Mach E GT’s Unbridled 1 pedal just feels so athletic agile and aggressive

1PD is why I won’t buy a Tesla.

I love that Ford lets the drivers pick. So odd that other manufacturers don’t do the same.

Haha….the Germans ‘know everything’….and that 1PD is the devil. I am a 1 PD advocate and was expecting the Audi to feel like 2PD in the MME….and I was prepared to deal with it, but I was pleasantly surprised to find way more usable regen than I expected…perhaps closer to Whisper mode regen?…

Always loved the way the etron looked. My late MIL who was 91 at the time felt it was the most beautiful car she’d ever seen, and she was a car fanatic from Detroit.

One thing I do love with the Taycan is the “auto regen.”

It’s halfway between coasting and cruise control.

You coast when letting off the throttle, except when there is a car in front of you and it slows down/regen based on distance and speed differential.

That would settle it for me. I have to get my mom in and out of our car so if it is too low that’s not going to work.

Would love to hear from the Taycan owners your impressions of the two speed transmission? A signifiant improvement for long distance / overdrive range? And top speed - when does the Taycan shift ?

Lyric-V, Blazer SS, R3X, Scout, or the Kia/Hyundai performance model for me. I really doubt we’ll stay with Ford Unless they step it up more. But we’ll see.

Definitely a large improvement for highway range.

It’s one of the only cars out there that gets MORE range during 70-75 mph range tests than the EPA rating. My EPA range is only 235, but can get around 300 miles at 70 mph.

It’s not just the transmission, It also drops the suspension height and completely disengages the front motor in “range mode” to help. Plus it’s very aerodynamic.

In terms of shifting, it only starts in 1st gear for sport and sport+ modes. Other modes it’s in 2nd gear all the time (unless you floor it) then it’s in 1st gear to 60 mph or so.

It’ll surprise you the first time you’re driving in normal mode then floor it and it downshifts. It’s pretty violent at full throttle.

In the Audi, I think mine might be shifting around 50. It is a rocket off the line even without boost (it has been too cold for the full 911HP to be available in boost). Better efficiency and new larger battery is definitely noticeable in terms of range.
