Update 4/32/22

Just went and got the car. General manager just happened to be there and overheard the same service guy we spoke to yesterday get condescending with us again today. As we were walking out the GM stopped us and talked to us. He wasn’t happy with the way he talked to us.

They never got blue cruise to work or “blue drive” as they kept calling it. ?

I do have SYNC 364

I can tell something’s are different.
Lane Centering is better

How weird. You have the 'Lane Centering with Hands Free' radio button, which I think means you are generally there on software. Do you have Bluecruise under your connected services on ford.com? I wonder if anything changes after a few more key cycles.

Just got a call from the owner of the dealership. He literally said “they only get paid for two hours when working on the kind of updates. So they weren’t getting paid to work with it”
It’s probably time to try another dealership since the owner of that one lies to you.

Another update:

Just got a call from the owner of the dealership. He literally said “they only get paid for two hours when working on the kind of updates. So they weren’t getting paid to work with it”

So clearly these dealerships aren’t getting paid to deal with this stuff so they don’t want to and they get away with it.

That’s direct from the OWNER of the DEALERSHIP

@Ford Motor Company you need to fix this. It’s a broken system.
Yeah, but that’s not your fault, this also isn’t the only vehicle that needs software updates.

I am in the same boat as he is, and I've had several key cycles in the last week and a half, and I still don't have Blue Cruise. After being transferred 5 times by Ford Customer Support, I was finally told that I am lacking an update, however, the dealer technician can't figure out what update is missing. It is a joke at this point!

Success! Spent the afternoon updating my car via FDRS and went for a test drive this afternoon. After the dealer left me with no lane centering and no BlueCruise and gave me a song and dance regarding about Ford hadn't release the BlueCruise I got fed up and did it myself.

Lance centering is back and Hands-Free BlueCruise popped up!

I ran the suite of 21G01 updates on my May '21 build AWD Premium. It did take a LONG time - about 9 hours for me (I already had the 21P22 updates run, and was at 2.3.0 power up). Everything appeared to work, no weird bugs, and no left-over / uncleared updates in FDRS. All codes cleared happily at the end, though I needed to clear the codes twice to get them all.

If I were to throw out a few tips:
  1. You've heard it over and over again - get a good power supply. I'm using this Tekpower and it was maxing out 30A of current a number of times during the updates, particularly during IPMA and GWM updates. Voltage stayed good the whole time, I think I dropped to 11.8V briefly at one point.
  2. Don't try to fake the USB thing with an SD card, SSD, or anything else. Just spend the $15 and get a 64GB USB 2.0 basic thumb drive and dedicate it to this task.
  3. Follow the USB instructions carefully, especially the 5-10 minute wait times after seeing it start updates to turning off the car when prompted, then waiting with the USB in the car but the car off for another 5-10 minutes before turning on, and only pulling the USB when it tells you to do so after the reboot. All my USB updates (3 GWMs and 2 APIMs, and maybe an IPC?) went smoothly when I followed those instructions.
  4. Keep rechecking for updates as you go - my list kept changing and new updates kept coming. I had to do a number of them two or three times to get to the newest version. Just keep chipping away. I suspect this is where many dealerships are going wrong ("OBCC again? I just did that, must be an FDRS bug.")
  5. Don't forget to clear the DTC codes and then use the APIM Sync Reset tool in the FDRS Toolbox to reset the APIM TWICE as your final step.
I'm still pending a test drive onto a BlueCruise highway to confirm everything works, but I do have Sync 364, I have the newer display panel graphics, I have the updated Adaptive Cruise Control options in settings, and basic lane keeping still works here in town. Wish me luck on this afternoon's test drive.

UPDATE: It works! Headed out of town on US 36, turned on BlueCruise with the steering wheel button, and it turned blue and fired up right away. Drove a few miles up the highway to test it out, and everything seemed to work just fine.

I'd say that the full update process is now possible to do successfully in the latest FDRS version as long as you are patient and follow instructions carefully (and barring some defect or other problem in your modules).

UPDATE 2: I received an email and a FordPass message saying my Bluecruise has been activated with a 1 year complimentary subscription. So by my count that was about 3 days after doing the updates and testing BlueCruise. If you have bluecruise but don't have the email, don't fret.

Got BC via OTA. Works well. Wouldnt pay 600 for it unless Ford adds more functionality in the upcoming year (lane changes, speed changes based on curves, and be able to take different exits even if that means disengaging bc when getting off the highway)

Leaving the car off for 5-10 minutes while doing a USB update isn't necessary. But it is important to leave the USB drive connected after restarting the car until a message pops up saying to remove it, which could be 5-10 minutes.

I've found if you try to continue right after it says it was successful, its not fully ready yet. Waiting a few minutes after pulling the USB does seem to be needed. Usually after the USB steps, FDRS will check all the files updated, and if you do it too soon after a success message, they won't all pass. Then when you wait a minute or so and retry it, they all pass.

Ah, thanks for the clarification. I wasn't sure if the car just needed to get a full reboot (turn off, open door to finish turning off, then turn back on, engine on), or if it needed the delay. Either way, the delay while off was working for me, so I just kept doing the rain dance. ;)

Are you Early Access? So far haven't heard of non-EA getting the OTA. If you aren't EA that is a great sign that we may be getting it soon.

I am EA. I got 2.4.2 a while ago and it failed so I was stuck on it for a week but then I got the remaining 5 or so updates within 5 days. It was rapid fire. 1 a day

Thanks, looks like the OTA is still only hitting EA VINs
