Alright. General consensus seems to be that I'd be crazy to pass this up.

Called the dealer to lock it in. They offered to let me keep the 23 order in as well since it hasn't been scheduled yet. Letting it ride for now as a back up plan.

Thanks to everyone that chimed in!!

Sure but be prepared to keep it in case ford implements any anti flipping measures
Selling a car when the one you ordered arrives does not constitute flipping, in my opinion. Especially if you drive it for 6 months while you have it.

YES! This is a no brainer but you might not like going back to RWD.
I ordered a '22 select RWD back in March, got it a month ago, liked it so much that a placed an order for a '23 Select AWD and I plan to sell the '22 when the '23 comes in.

Oh and lucky you because my dealer does ntot accept X-plan (but does honer MSRP)

Get it. You can always wrap in Grabber Blue later. I'm not one for white cars myself, but the price is totally right. Better specced, likely cheaper, keep in mind we don't know when the STD will be moving to LFP, which will be even more of a performance hit likely.

Not sure that would apply if I kept it for 6+ months while I wait for the 23? Haven't had to sign anything saying I wouldn't, it's not exactly a Ford GT worth half a million. ? I'll probably keep it for the 'free' upgrade/$330 less than my 23 order and just learn to love the new color.
Riddle me this
Let's say they go with tesla and say you must keep for 1 year or you lose warranty and charging, after 1 year yes you get your 23 but now the 22 would have depreciated since 23s have been rolling out. With inflation economy and new chip mfg in the US, the 22s may not hold up in value like the 21s. Just be aware of the possibilities and not be greedy. Getting a 22 now would give you a car to use/drive and we'll see how things play out.

"A bird in the hand"... With all the component issues, better to lock one in though I have a '22 Grabber Blue GT-PE and absolutely love it!

I also recently heard that Ford is no longer offering X-Plan on '23 MME - only A/Z plan (employee/retiree) so between the price increases and the X-plan discount, the '22 will be substantially less.

Like others mentioned, maybe you can 2x dip on the Fed Rebate BUT.... I am not sure that most MME will qualify for the new Tax Credit due to MSRP and EPA vehicle class.

The '22 MME is/was? classified by Ford/EPA as a "station wagon" = car $55K MSRP limit under the new Tax credit.

Just looked it up on the EPA site and it must have moved to the small SUV category. That would be good news for the new Fed Credit. -Maybe someone could confirm.

I agree with everyone that say commit to the ‘22 Premium AWD ER that is in production. Any idea if it will be delivered in ‘22?

I guess I should clarify that I meant the "free upgrade" would be from my standard range battery and rear wheel drive order to the AWD extended battery, so it's technically an upgrade for me. They're asking $330 less than my '23 order, so it really works in my favor even though I'm not in love with the new color. I'm well aware of how crazy the market is and how easily it can change. I think we're probably just going to cancel the order for the '23 at this point.

As for the Tesla example, my husband already has a '21 Model 3 Long Range and has been offered a good chunk over what he paid when he ordered it back in 2021. We thought about upgrading his to the performance one, but it's just not worth it and he might lose his FSD beta status. Though he IS eyeing the EV6 GT. *groan*

Dealer is estimating mid-late October. Even if it's a little later than that, I have a good amount of time left in 2022. Gives me time to get out of my BMW lease that ends in March.

If you get the Ford Visa and the dealer lets you charge $6000 on it for the down payment, you'll get $300 cash off the balance and $300 in Ford credit for accessories or service.

Don't cancel the 23 order until you have to. I bought two and the dealer bought one back from me for more than I paid for it out the door all before the first payment was due.

Love my grabber blue, but do like the looks of space grey exterior. I just hate hate black seats. My 22 which was upgraded from a 21 was specifically a premium due to the seat color. Saying that I would probably get the space grey and then as everyone says sell it.
Some people won't qualifty for the new tax credit due to income levels... not sure your case on this for double dipping in tax credit..

You‘re thinking of 2021. The EPA classification was changed to SUV for the 2022 model year.

I’d go for the ‘22. Definitely biased however as the ‘22 is the exact spec I ordered, arriving sometime in November. Personally I found the AWD performance, EXT range, and other Premium features to be well worth the price differential... and if you look at ‘22 Premium vs ’23 Select pricing then factor in potential tax credit loss… it becomes even more of a no brainer IMO.
