It's been a great 4.5 years with the MME (and we should make it to 5 before the replacement arrives), but we've decided to upgrade it. Recent events in our lives reminded us that we're getting old, life is too short, and it's time to splurge. So I ordered a Lucid Gravity GT this week. We road trip a LOT, and the 450 mile range should be amazing. Factoring in safety buffers, that's really double what we get from the MME. Most full drive days should take only one DCFC stop (two at most). Amazing.

It's not my favorite look from the outside (looks like more of a wagon than an SUV), but that's how they get the range. And the inside is ?.
I considered doing the same, but I didn't have time to wait for the Lucid so I ordered the 2025 Mach-E. Turns out I waited almost 4 months for it to finally arrive anyway. Maybe next time I'll go for the Lucid! In the meantime I'm following this post to know your thoughts. I'm having a bit of seller's regret with my First Edition Mach-E and buyer's remorse with the 2025 - Though the seat AC might prove to be nice, I'm not digging the stem shifter on the steering wheel where my wipers used to be, my tires and wheels are not as low profile, and I'm still getting used to going from an under the radar Carbonized Gray to the fun Molten Magenta Red, lol. What I really wish for is for Ford to move the hazard lights to the dash so my dog would stop stepping on the button every day. :)

I also am replacing my Mach-E with a Lucid, although I went with the Air Touring. I did a lease and I got I think $24,500 off with the deals they have this month. I couldn’t pass that up. I’m replacing a 2021 Mach-E GTPE, which I’m trying to sell myself hoping to maximize what I can get for it.

My thoughts so far after only a couple of weeks in the car:
1. It looks like I will probably get a little over 300 miles on a full charge instead of the estimated 406 (I have a bit of a lead foot), compared to 190-215/260 on the GTPE, but again, that’s after only a couple of weeks so a little early to tell for sure. My first road trip, San Diego to Lake Tahoe, is about a week away, so I’ll see how that goes. I’ll keep my lead foot in check on the trip to extend the range. Even if it’s only a little over 300 miles of range, that still opens routes I enjoy that weren’t a possibility in the GTPE.
2. The glass roof is so much better than any other I have seen. In the Mach-E, the rear passengers can enjoy it but I can’t unless I’m stopped. In the Lucid, the first cross pillar is completely behind the driver so from forward to straight up is completely visible if you swing the visor out of the way. The visors are mounted to the windshield. It kind of feels like a cockpit of a fighter jet, except for the A pillars. The A pillars are a little more in the way and overall visibility is probably a little better in the Mach-E, but the Lucid makes up for it with clever use of the cameras when you use your turn signals. Maybe someday someone will use cameras and screens to make the A pillars appear invisible from inside.
3. It has a precondition button so you don’t need to use the onboard navigation to start your preconditioning. It will also do it automatically if you do route yourself to a charger with the onboard navigation, and there is no paid subscription for that (yet - they leave the option open to start charging for it in the future).
4. It has CarPlay, unlike Rivian and Tesla, but I don’t think it’s quite as well integrated. Certainly if I’m using Google maps, it’s not as good. It puts the map on a small screen to the right of the steering wheel that my hand partly covers if I have my hands at 10 & 2 on the wheel. They make up for that with their onboard nav, though. It has a zoomed in map on one screen and a zoomed out map on another. I like that. I may actually try to use it more than I’ve used onboard nav in other cars.

I was considering the Gravity but for the moment they are only offering the highest end version so it's a bit out of reach for me.

I'll be curious to see what gets removed on the Touring (vs the current Grand Touring) version to lower it by $15k. I was a bit tempted to hold off before biting the bullet and ordering a GT, but I'm already retired and not getting any younger!

Frankly, if money were more of an issue (like it was in my younger years), I'd just keep the MME. It's still a pretty darn good car that checks most of the boxes. The Gravity is definitely "splurge" territory.

That's why we have two EVs, and both the higher trims (Premium / Lariat). Most expensive vehicle prior to these was my 2013 F-150 which was like $32k with tax. You only live once!
