That's an overly optimistic dealer! Wow.

I placed my online reservation on November 18, 2019 and have received AT LEAST 25 emails from Ford since then.

You may be feeling left out because of your very recent order and that you made it through a dealer instead of online. So Ford expects all of your communications, in this case, to be between you and your dealer, as that is where you are handling this deal.

But don't feel left out. @Mach-E VLOG has put together a tremendous recap of all of the important information we've learned from Ford over the last 14 months or so, over at his namesake:

I think he may have been ignorant of the situation at the time (I know I was). I came to the party late myself in that I didn't know much about the Mach E until I ordered it in October (I heard of it but not in any detail and I certainly didn't know how popular it was and all the pre-ordering, etc.). As many of you know, I have been very critical of Ford for their lack of communication and it sounds like you had an entirely different experience than me and that's great (heck I'd be grateful for just a few e-mails from them). Perhaps ordering it directly from the dealer explains some of it but I still believe Ford could have (and can) done/do a much better job as well. I guess I am remembering how well they kept those informed who ordered their Thunderbirds in 2001. I have seen many of the videos on You Tube and they are very informative. I also feel completely up to speed after being on this forum since October. I'll keep texting and calling the dealer periodically in hopes of getting some answers from Ford but to date, nada.

I didn't order my Thunderbird; I bought it from the dealer stock on the lot. The "birth certificate" was made for those in our Thunderbird group who wanted to know about how and when our cars were made and we were lucky to have a Ford employee who could find out. He made these certificates and did a great job (even included a picture of my car). ;)

As long as you don't want a Mach E until 2022, stock may be your answer.
That's the bulk of the issue. Going "early adopter" like this is likely to have lots of fits and starts. Throw in a year of COVID and it's magnified 3x.

But perhaps worse is the 15-month long journey of anticipation for this one. It's been both a blessing and a curse to have forums like this to discuss this journey. Lots of fun, lots of information, but also heightened anticipation and frustration magnifying every bump.

Ordering a 2nd year MME should be WAAAY easier.

I reserved a year ago. I've received 4 emails from Ford about the Mach-e. 1. You reserved. 2. Your Order was was accepted. 3. We cut prices. 4. You have a build week. No promos, no notice of any of the online webinars a while back, zip. And yes, I'm signed up to receive them.

Now contrast that with the Raptor. Those emails go to a different email address and at least 1, usually 2, emails a month. And we already own the truck.

It's not just that we ordered the car. Most of us ordered it many months before production started. Not only that, it is an all-new car on an all-new platform, with an all-new battery and powertrain, which was brought to market in the midst of a global pandemic unlike anything in a 100 years.

I don't see how we can lump all 'ordered' cars together with first builds of the Mach-E.

A year ago, I would have said I would much prefer online ordering over haggling with dealers. Not to discourage anyone, but last year I ordered a Ford Escape PHEV for my wife. After multiple delays, I contacted my dealer only to find out Ford cancelled my order without informing us (due to Kuga fires in Europe). With no timeframe for the Escape PHEV and no other good PHEV options, we purchased a Subaru off a dealer lot instead.

The online ordering of the Mach-E was much easier than ordering the Escape through the dealer. And, Ford has done a much better job keeping us informed. So, I see some improvement by Ford.

The thing that bothers me most with the Mach-E order is not knowing the final cost. When I placed the order, Ford showed 0.9% APR with a $2500 incentive. Different financing at the time of purchase could change the price by $5k or more. Also, as of now, my dealer is not offering the $1500 California Clean Fuel discount. When placing an online order, I wish Ford would guarantee the final price including finance rates (assuming no change in credit score) and permit us to easily change dealers.

There are other threads discussing this if you want more details... but ultimately, the best thing you can do is to query your dealer regarding the financing options. Especially as you get closer to delivery date, since as you noted, options can change over time.

At the moment, you cannot combine the 0.9% APR simple interest financing with the $2,500 incentive. That incentive is only available if you choose Ford Options.

If you do the math on it, though, I think you'll find that the $2,500 more than makes up the extra interest paid for Ford Options when compared to traditional retail financing. (Assuming no other issues, for instance you're prepared to pay the full balloon with cash when it comes due.)

I've run my own numbers and determined that the 0.9% APR retail loan will cost me $787 in finance charges (interest paid), compared to paying cash.

Meanwhile, the total cost of financing for 36-month Options would be $290 for me, or $926 if I chose the 48-month Options.

And that's with a $1,000 incentive instead of $2,500. So if all else were equal, you'd do even better than my numbers.

4 sounds about right for me too, if that.

If I just got half as many emails about my Mach-E order from Ford as I get from them trying to sell me nav map updates for my Escape, I'd be thrilled.

Huh? So what does your underlining mean? I heard first hand (and later saw) how those people (not me) who ordered their 2002 Thunderbirds were treated by Ford and it was really exceptionally good. As I mentioned before, they had a "Manage the Wait" program that was explained in other posts. AND, trutolife27 replied to me and said his remark was NOT aimed towards me (I'm certainly NOT a "troll"). So I'm not sure exactly what you mean by your post. I certainly don't want to start this misunderstanding again and I hope you don't want that either. All I am saying is my dealer and I have heard nothing from Ford since I ordered the car in October and I feel we should have by now.

“You never ordered a Thunderbird so you don’t know what you are talking about. I did and saw firsthand . . .”

I think from this statement and others a lot of us inferred you ordered your Thunderbird. Seems like pretty plain English to me.

Sorry for the misunderstanding; I should have worded it differently. But, I DID NOT order my Thunderbird. Like I said, the Mustang Mach E is the first (and only) car I have ordered, period.

Thanks for working out the math. But who knows what the Ford Option will be come March. Just wish they would put all this in writing at the time of placing the order.

The cost of money changes, sometimes considerably. I ordered in June with a early February reservation. Which do we lock-in? And for how long? Certainly not impossible, but not quite as easy as it might seem.

He's definitely not a liar and I think he was just not informed on how popular the cars are. He's actually a really nice guy (General Manager of the dealership) and a personal friend of my neighbor who referred me to him. He treated my wife and I very well and it was one of the most pleasant experiences I've had to date with a new car dealer. He also honored the Ford X-Plan which my previous dealer of 18 years would not do.
So, incompetent then.

I'd say at this point it's unlikely you'll even get a 2021 model year.
