It would matter if you want Bluecruise. Or the faster charging. Or both.

It’s as important as ANY option (like panel roof, heated seats, ER battery etc).

Now how important each of those is depends on the buyer. It could even be the deciding factor.

Even worse could be it some GT models get the 5 second limit removed and others don’t. Hell itself could open up!
That really only matters right now. In short time the cars will all have the same features. You can buy one used now and you'll be in the same boat waiting for the feature as the original owner was, but that update IS coming.

Ford could have just started pushing out the updates all at once, but look what would have happened if they did that. They'd have thousands of people with stuck updates. Instead of the smaller group that has had issues.

Remember, their plan wasn't to be releasing this so late. Issues arise that delay things when you're working with tech all the time. Especially new tech that you are rolling out for the first time.

Checked via the hidden OTA status web page that my 2.3.0 was queued, and also failed after a few hours. It says "General Failure Will Retry". I hooked up FDRS, and don't see any updates here, everything is up to date. So looks like Ford has not released the 2.3.0 modules to the FDRS subsystem.

All I know is that 2.1 was the first time my car had ever received on OTA update. I bought a FDRS license because it seemed as though one would never come through, and when I opened it the first time, it was clear there were a ton of SW updates the dealer never performed.

Software updates that are coming are not the same as hardware differences. But I don't feel bad for anyone who buys a car without doing any research. They have access to the same information as the rest of us.
A feature is a feature whether it’s software or hardware doesn’t really matter.

“They have access to the same information as the rest of us.”

What information? Ford isn’t helpful and the forums have scattered information at best.

So I’ll ask again, how would someone buying a USED Mach E be able to tell which updates it has and/or which are coming? You act like this is an easy thing to figure out.

Maybe, maybe not. We don’t know when the cars will have the same features.

Right now you can buy a late build with Bluecruise and an early build that “who knows when?” will get it.

And how exactly will a used car buyer know the difference between a job 2 Premium 4x and and job 1 Premium 4x for example?

It matters when the software features will come to your car and the hardware features will not.
“May come” to your car and a future unknown date.

Not everyone has the patience to wait for Bluecruise for example.

So if you are buying a used one and want Bluecruise, better figure out when it was built somehow.

Or you have to test drive all the way to the nearest interstate and then know the difference between “Bluecruise is active” and what REAL hands free looks like.

You could look in the owners manual but even it is no help.

NOT Bluecruise

Okay, then don’t buy a used MME. Not sure what else to tell you.

You could admit that what you implied earlier that it’s easy to research used Mach Es is incorrect.

If you admit that, I’ll agree not to buy a used one. ?

I never said it was easy. I said that all buyers have access to the same information we do. Which part of that is incorrect?

Out of curiosity : did you (and all the US-citizens) go to the dealer for the 21P22 customer update? Part of that update is an update to the updater module in the car. I try to establish a correlation between this update and people not getting OTA updates. (mostly early builds) A fix for this will not come from an OTA update and you have to apply this at your dealer.
I had the 21P22 update on Thursday. On Friday I got the 2.3.0 update OTA.

The part where you said this, “But I don't feel bad for anyone who buys a car without doing any research. They have access to the same information as the rest of us.”

You’re implying that the information is readily available for them to research so we shouldn’t “feel bad” if they buy a used Mach E and expect it to have Bluecruise for example.
