Feels like silicone and silicone is resistant to most things. It's also pretty soft though (though some are hard). Some companies like to try and hide things with tinted epoxy, the laser vaporizes that stuff. The laser must have an external exhaust vent though as it's truly vaporizing the material. If you're curious about how a metal tastes, just keep the vent off ? -- I wouldn't breathe a polymer / plastic / epoxy though. That thing works great for personalizing tools and whatnot. Don't really want to breathe any of it but you can hang the tongue out and get enough particles for a taste test.Actually, I ask again out of curiosity. Back when my father worked at Ford, they’d purchase competitive products, tear them down, and price them to the component. Many of the electronics modules of his era were “potted” to reduce the chance of long-term damage due to environmental or vibration. He would tell me that they’d occasionally get a module where they couldn’t “dissolve” the potting material with whatever magic solvent they’d use, so they’d have to very carefully attack with a dremel tool.
