I don’t care so much about park assist, but I want my side sensors active. If you don’t have the park assist Chip, the side sensors are not active either, you only have the front and back.
Yeah this is a big reason I’m not interested in getting rid of my ‘21 anytime soon. I also use the kick sensor to open the tailgate a lot. Only thing I don’t have is frunk open on the app. Can do it the other way though.

Oh interesting, when else are those sensors used? 360? Lane correction? Or just parking?

Any time you park. I miss it from my '21 and would definitely be interested in adding the functionality back if the price is reasonable.

But only using park assist or all parking? I use those sensors every night I park in my garage, it's a tight fit so lots of beeping

I'd love to see the CI/CD that builds these powerups. He

Same here. The actual 'push button to park' though, never used it, successfully.

The side sensors provide an audible and visual que any time you're moving at low speed, they work just like the front/back ones.

The side sensors are used any time you park. They give you the likes around the car on the 360 view and the audible beeps. Without the park assist Chip you just have the front and back sensors when parking.

Really? Glad I have the side sensors then. My 21 J2 GTPE is really fully loaded I guess, pano roof, BC 1.0, Park assist, KTO, frunk button, improved HVJB…I guess I’ll never get rid of it, sounds like I can’t get some of the options now.

Can’t wait for BC 1.2!

The 2021 J2 vehicles are THE best Mach-Es. They have all the features before Ford started stripping them out.

As a fellow 21 job 2 owner, I agree! I got downvoted to oblivion on a Reddit sub for saying this because apparently we’re driving ticking time bombs with a defective HVJB just waiting to fail.

Real simple, make it fail, on your terms. Problem solved.

Simple, pull your IPMA out, open up, zap the LIN chip pads with a fiber laser to remove the corrosion protection coating, drop some solder paste and the LIN chip on, hit with heat gun. Done and done.

Here's the lasering of a TCCM with similar coating for reference

And the result -- ready to solder

Kind of odd how the IPC isn't just a dumb display but has it's own processors and software and is limited in capability.
My SYNC screen randomly went black and reset itself on the drive home last night. That has only happened a few times, but I’m guessing Ford wanted the IPC to run independently for safety reasons. I’ve never had a software malfunction with the IPC - just the transistor buzz.

And no way are we getting the new CarPlay on this hardware. I’d settle for removing the rounded corners from existing CarPlay. Those rounded corners in a square frame are killing my OCD.

That’s an apple thing. They like rounded corners way too much. I agree though they need to go on CarPlay.
