This update seems to be focused on bringing all cars to have the same software and features where possible. Which in turn would make it easier to add that later (if it is something Ford is working on).

Oh, is the phone button not new for Mach-E? I thought it was a new feature, not just bringing some cars to the same software features others already had.

That's why it seemed odd to me that Ford is adding a brand new phone button that nobody was asking for, instead of always-available trunk button access that customers have been begging for for five years.

That's why it seemed odd to me that Ford is adding a brand new phone button that nobody was asking for, instead of always-available trunk button access that customers have been begging for for five years.

This software is used across many vehicles besides the Mach E and could have been on one of those.

It might also just be part of the improvements they mentioned for android auto and car play. if they had to change anything with the phone side of the software it might have just been part of that.
