I've had my CA Route 1 for 3 weeks and about 1000 miles and mostly the PAAK works for my Pixel 5. About 10% of the time there is a delay that is 10-20 seconds. Less than 5% of the time, I need to enter my code / backup code to start the car and the PAAK still doesn't connect sitting in the car. My wife gets the fob. I am somewhat ok with the performance but it's not great to wait by the side of you car as traffic flies by or with your kid constantly pressing the button and you telling them to "wait...wait...wait...now." The battery drain is pretty noticeable as well.

The thing that is a little concerning is that Ford is aware of PAAK issues (I've sent emails) but there are still delays and battery drain. They need to get this right because there are going to be a lot of F150 Lightning owners in the future and there will be a lot more frustrated people.
This. The key, whatever form it may take, is supposed to allow you to enter, start, and operate the car immediately. It has for 100 years. It shouldn't take 10 minutes of fiddling with the phone to enter, start and operate the car. I got stuck at JFK airport dropping a family member off last week waiting for the PAAK to decide to work and handshake with the car, all while the airport police were preparing to have the car towed from passenger drop off.

Hopefully Ford is getting the message loud and clear! They need to provide 2 fob’s for every car they sell! I had to put up a fight to get mine, but I was NOT going to pay extra for it!!!
Whom did you contact to get the second fob?

I went back to the dealer we bought the car from and just told them we needed another FOB because my Wife’s PAAK was too flaky! We took the car to another dealer to get it programmed and they charged it back to the first dealer at NO cost to us!

20% isn't exactly a ringing endorsement of the feature.

Agree, but it sure seems like most are willing to stick with it and use it. I really feel until it has the same reliability of a FOB it is a fail.

Bump up. I will not let my wife or teenage daughter drive with PAAK for their safety.

25% never works/have no trust in it. 4% are disinterested. So the balance are using it. It works well for 20%. The second statement doesn't adequately parse out the reliability of it for the remaining 50%. Also a 174 person sample is likely not adequate for a car with 20,000ish owners.

All fair points for sure, since this is limited to the forum and I figure most owners don't look for forums it is still interesting data. Still the stories of people being locked out keep happening. Marketing should be this is a nice feature but here are 2 Fobs liike normal Ford products get.

Works sometimes but I won't trust it and is a safety issue if I or my family is locked out

I have the key in my pocket all the time

How would you get locked out?

You can always enter the code on the door pillar to enter the vehicle (factory default code and/or a code you setup yourself).

I don't have all the time in the world to wait for the phone to work.
I am driving the car for over a month already. I don't like the PAAK. I want an immediate reaction as I always had.

Are you happy with it? Do you have your car already?
If so I am happy for you.

I've had mine since February.

The only time I carry the fob is a long (multi-day) trip as a just in case.

I've never been locked out. 99% of the time all I have to do is tap the phone so the phone is active. It's not a matter of the Mach E's ability to pick up the iPhone's presence it's a matter of making sure the iPhone is active and acting like a fob.

Good feedback for sure, I gave up on PAAK and Ford and the dealership sent and setup us a 2nd fob. New MMEs get 2 fobs so this shows me this is a failed technology and that while some love it and it works a significant amount don't. 2 Fobs solves a customer relationship issue and those wanting the tech of a PAAK will continue to use it and love it. I'll never use PAAK and trying to remember yet another PIN and password is a total PITA in my life I just don't need. This was the only issue I've had with my MME to date, I've been enjoying and driving this awesome car and am up to 3,400 miles.
