My last Mazda was this bad on paint chips as well. They were clear that it was a “paint system” and designed to reduce weight. The finish on my MME was good, and easily better than the 2018 Mustang before it. I believe the finish quality is good, but the thickness of the paint doesn’t match the road reality. I’m resigned to the fact I will chose to invest in PPF or spend my eternity with touch up paint. I would rather renew PPF every 5 years than repaint the car.

Only three weeks of ownership but I can attest to several things on the front of the Mach E that trouble me. First the front bumper area is taking a beating already and I"d gladly buy a nose mask for the car. Yes if you are not diligent and clean for the inside of mask and the car you can get rubbing but it's worked for me well on my Acura. Second it can't go 10 feet without windshield getting bugs and dirt and I've put stone and bug deflectors on a good number of my vehicles with success...they did make a difference. I see a hood protector from WeatherTech that looks good but it doesn't look like it would do much for the windshield. I'm not keen to apply the film on the nose of car unless I absolutely have to. Any thoughts out there on bras or windshield deflectors?
I quickly got two deep stone? chips on the leading edge of the hood within 3 days of taking ownership. As I mentioned the bug splatter is pretty bad but at least they scrub off. I bought the MME Eruption Green touch up paint kit from PaintScratch.com and it was a perfect match but as per usual, a bear to apply by a civilian. Gotta be super careful. After taking care filling the chips I installed the WeatherTech hood protector which also is a perfect fit. And bonus-it covers my crappy touch up job. Also gotta be really careful with this protector install since it doesn't fasten to the inside of the hood as classic bug deflectors do. It won't do squat for bug deflection but it looks really nice and was a good price. Now at least the leading edge of the frunk has a fighting chance to fend off road grime.

Anyone else have an issue with paint chips appearing all over? I drive on the highway a lot to work but honestly my previous car never had this issue, especially not 6 months into ownership. I paid extra for tri coat and I’m not sure that it even matters? Does Ford touch these up under warranty at all?

Before I picked up my vehicle, they said it had a recall which again I’ve said this before, I think they took the part off my car and put it on a car that actually needed it because my car did not have a recall. And I think they probably had to pull the front end off and Forgot to put in a clip. I’ve made them aware. I don’t want them pulling the front end off right now because the car is fine. I touched it up as good as I could right now but you can tell there’s a gap and it’s rubbing.
