In February when Ford heavily discounted the MME I took advantage of upgrading from a premium standard range to a GT extended range. Literally an even exchange. Since taking delivery PAAK occasionally works. I arranged the settings to my liking. Puddle lights auto lock with a chirp etc. none took hold. I’ve been on Ford Pass multiple times and just been told it’s software and to see my dealership. It’s went the shop for three days and returned with either no issues or been addressed. Friday after work none of the issues addressed. My service advisor is great but the techs basically seemed not to care. It’s going back tomorrow but I’m still angry and also apprehensive nothing gets done. Any suggestions?

Take matters into your own hands.
I have a new GTPE purchased about a month after you. PAAK has been stable. And I've done about 15 updates with FDRS and received 4 OTA updates.

Knocking on wood, but it's been basically flawless during the honeymoon period.

That is sad that you need to spend 1000's to update a vehicle that was sold to you with the understanding that it would do it by itself, over the air, while sitting in your driveway. Then at least after you drive it around for a few hours to charge the 12V. Now not likely.

Agreed it's sad, but not 1,000's. All in it's under $750.

Cable: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B097NHQ7ZW $539
Power Supply: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01ER3LH1G $140
FDRS two-day license: $50

So $729 + taxes. Plus this power supply doubles as a handy battery charger.

I'm not defending the cluster that is the OTA update experience, but also hopeful Ford has factored this into the design of their next platform. Trying to coordinate updates with all these 3rd party modules would make me want to bring vehicle software completely in-house.

So my suggestions are:
  1. Take the printout of your current pending FDRS updates (helpful folks here can get that for you in the FDRS thread) to your problem dealer (or a different one) and demand they get them *ALL* completed.
  2. Purchase equipment above and spend a few hours running updates
  3. Trade in for a Tesla. Honestly, they have the software part figured out at this point.

All that and I get only 2 days to f around with the car. I would just prefer they beam me the CSP for melting and burnt smells from the L2 charging port (stuck) that was mailed here in October stating it would be an OTA update but not to date. Also the 12V BMS update. Last I got was a tesla so it is still working if something is sent. Don't need the tesla like the above.

In all due respect why do I need to do that. This is my first Forc (actually second because of the upgrade) and their customer service and technology is awful. The vehicle is beautiful and drives great. But I’m also wondering if I should have kept the Cadillac

In all due respect you don't need to do anything. The only reason I responded is because you appended "Any suggestions?" to the end of your vent. So these are my suggestions. otherwise I'd have ignored your vent.

By all means go back to your Cadillac. I know social media teaches you complaining loudly solves all problems, but in this situation it will solve nothing. You need to decide yourself to do something or nothing. The only person on here that is paid by ford is clearly marked "Ford Motor Company" so feel free to PM them.

To me since I’ve purchased my car back in February I’ve been knock on wood, lucky enough, not to have a lot of the issues others report, I just have not been getting updates, but nothing has stopped working so far. That said the dealer I bought mine through. I never use them when I had an ICE car. I remember I bought my 19 GT off Carvana and when I got it, it was about four updates behind on sync and it wouldn’t get updates. So one day I just drove in to the dealership and they said here just leave it right here, hooked up the computer and boom, just like that updated it. With the electric car they hardly, talk to you, and I am convinced after being on this forum since February that you pretty much almost have to be your own mechanic, which is sad lol. And just to get somebody else opinion, the Ford dealer you bought it from if they can’t support it should you feel embarrassed, or shamed to go to the Ford dealer down the street that you did not work with but you have dealt with in the past? If they can even do anything for you?

If you are blessed/cursed with the nerd-gene, the whole laptop in the car (truck) experience is kinda liberating, to be honest.

I thoroughly enjoy being my own mechanic, as someone put it.

I realize it's not for everyone. And I don't judge those who take other routes regarding these issues. But it seems obvious that it can steal a lot of joy from the ownership experience.

Dealers will not charge to perform any updates to any module so long as you have a complaint that relates to said update.

If you go in without an update related complaint, why would they do anything else for free?

Just because there might be (and there likely are) available updates for non-OTA module updates, doesn't mean you need them.

I guess I’m doing light stuff with my $20 ODBII cable.

Why would you have upgraded based on a) having a previous MME and b) being on the forum. Nothing you are experiencing is a surprise.

My PAAK doesn't work because my phone's bluetooth is borked. When i turned on PAAK the ford app says i am unsupperted, and it isn't pleasant.

i do agree about service. all they can do is apply updates. if the updates dont work they shrug. i am certain i have a bad connection in the wiring harness which leads to lane assist going offline every 15 to 20 minutes for about 10 seconds and they don't try to repair it. they even repro'd it once. I agree flakey wiring is hard but that's why there should be diagnostic codes that are specific.
