That's not how it works, most EVSEs do not lower the charging amperage automatically. The car does that, not the EVSE. Exceptions are if your smart EVSE has a slider, you can manually adjust it (still fixed to your setting), or in rare cases if you have solar controlling the EVSE output. Is it or is it that some peoples EVSE will not vary (lower) the charge amperage automatically and therefore charging stops? Once it is lowered manually it will charge again. Think code P0E5F may be present will need to look one day. There is this Link. My Grizzl-e extreme has not stopped just the speed of charging (amperage) has decreased.
EVSE says "I have 40A max available"
Car says "I'm here, turn on power" and the car decides how much to draw from 0-40A.
When charging is done car says "Turn off power" and that's what happens.
With a standard dumb EVSE, it advertises the "40A available" the whole time, doesn't change. The car's on-board charger decides how much it wants to use and varies the draw if necessary. It just needs to stay under the limit the EVSE gives it.
