So I have had this premium x4 since Mar 10. It has never DC charged faster than 41kw, it has been in good bad and ugly weather. DC charge rate is always poor. I had 21P22 performed last week. Today I tried EVGo still less than 30kw at 73%. So I drove 40miles to an EA tried 3 chargers max was 31kw 60degrees 63% Soc. The EA tech was on sight so he did a reboot and still the charge rate was down to 21kw so I let it go to 80% to see what would happen and it dropped to 10kw. I have complained to the dealer, and his eyes glass over. I think I need Ford's help with fixing this!

Maybe ask a nice person on here to run your VIN in FDRS to verify the dealer actually updated your car with 21P22 and that you don't still need the relevant updates.

When I connect, the car normally starts out with a slow rate ... but starts to ramp up to fast and faster rates. If the car is low (e.g. 20%) then it will ramp to 150 kW or even a little faster (I think the fastest I've seen was 168 kW but it only stays there for a few minutes and gradually starts to back off). But most of my charge session is faster than 100 kW ... as it approaches 80% it will dip below and I'll end the session charging at around 80kW. This is before the software update (I have the software update but haven't visited Electrify America since getting it.)

Starting a charge at 73% .. or even 63% isn't very low. You wont probably wont see the car get above 100 kW charging. A better test would be to get the car down to maybe 20-30% and then initiate a DC Fast Charge.

I would pass out if the charge exceeded 41Kw ! Actually on a trip I had it down to 15% and still only got a rate of 38Kw takes me a good 1.25 hours to get near 80%

We’re you using an EA charger? Some (most) of the Chargepoints and EVGo’s only advertise 50 kw.

If you only had 41 kWh max on a 150 or 350 EA station, I would report it and move to a different location. If multiple locations from EA are doing it then it is a car problem. Maybe a charge controller update is needed.

Yes I tried 2) 350kw and 1) 150kw EA chargers today with their rep was on sight and rebooted one of the 350Kw to see if that helped. He said the car was only requesting 24Kw. When I moved from 1 charger to another the rate of charge was exactly the same.

Sounds like your car has a problem. The normal rate is 125 down to about 88 until it hits 80%. I’ve seen the 34 kw rate a couple times but moving to a new charger fixed it.

I think it is a hardware problem, but I don't how to get the dealer to understand that.

Go to a different dealer, there are a lot of ford dealers in the Dallas area.

Looks like you may be similarly effected by this, possibly?

I ran your VIN and you do need the OBCC update, which is identified in that TSB. Below are all the updates you need. You do need the IPMA update, which is for self-driving. I think you should complete the customer satisfaction update package.

Thanks for checking, I thought most of those modules were updated with 21P22?

Yeah, they should have been, but those are still showing as outstanding on your vehicle. I'm pretty sure the: IPMA, GSM, BCM and OBCC are part of 21P22.

I just heard back from Ford and they are escalating my issue to EV support team. I just checked my repair invoice and the IPMA and GSM are not on the list. Also 21P22 does not say anything about IPMA. So not sure how to get them to update a non listed module.
