I stand corrected! I also confirmed with ChargePoint that it’s fine to run it at a lower charging current. But isn’t it generally true that a device might not be adequately protected (depending on its design) if it is on a circuit with a breaker that is too high (even assuming that the wiring of the circuit is correct for that breaker)?Thats not true. The breaker is there as a safety limit to the wiring, plug and max current of installed downstream load. It does not matter if the EVSE is only 16 amp or 48 amp. It is installed to protect the weakest link in the circuit.
