Back in early January, I posted about a powertrain malfunction error message on my MME GT PE. It turned out to be a faulty motor oil pump. After over a month in the shop, the pump was replaced and the car returned back to me. They did not replace the motor, though I thought maybe they should have since the motor was not getting oil.

Shortly after receiving the car back, I noticed a rather loud wind-like noise that occurred above 30 MPH. In an ICE vehicle I might not have noticed, but in a quiet EV it was quite obvious. I thought it might be an open door or window, but that did not seem to be the case. I called my dealership to bring the car back. They said they would schedule my return visit once they had a loaner car available.

Then days later (not having heard from the dealership), while driving about 50 MPH, the car went dead in the middle of a four-lane road and threw a bunch of error codes. I pulled over and the car restarted like nothing had happened. I drove a couple of miles further to stop at a shopping center. Upon getting back into the car, the driverside door would not close due to the "plunger" being stuck out. At that point, the car would not start or come to life at all.

About an hour later, while waiting for a tow, the driver's door closed by itself and the car came back to life (no, I did not do anything). I was able to drive the car to the dealership. I made a point of not parking in the dealership's service lane, afraid that the car would not start back up and would block the lane. Lo and behold, when the service rep came out to look at the car, we could not even unlock the door.

Who knows where this will go now? I don't know if this recent problem is the result of the oil pump repairs, or some other issue. Since I'm not convinced that the dealership has the expertise to diagnose the problem, I hope the @Ford Motor Company will get involved to help figure this out.

I know that some MMEs have died in the past due to the HVB contactor issue, but this does not seem to be the case here. Has anybody experienced anything like this?

I’d totally have blocked the service lane, guarantee they’d take that more seriously
