Shifting away from having someone else detailing our MME and tackling it myself. Have done automotive electrical and swapped out clutches but for some reason detailing continue to scare the crap out of me. Any recs for solid wax applications? I'll be using the classic two-bucket system, likely using suds from the Chemical Guys (open to other recs here too.)

I love an occasional 303 graphene. Then I go with Griots Garage Best in Show.

In my opinion, much of the hype about products is simple marketing that people buy into and spend way, way too much money on.

I regularly use Collinite 845. It is amazing. A bottle will last years and years. I think mine is around 8 years old. You use very little each time.

If I want to polish first, I use Nu Finish liquid.

Between the 2 products, $30 or so for years of applications. I use micro pad applicators, and micro fiber towels from Costco. Wash towels, but don't put them in the dryer.

I don't have any fancy orbital machines to apply the Nu Finish, but I have a cheap buffer to help remove it. Collinite 845 beads for a very, very long time.

I used Meguiar's Mirror Glaze Synthetic Sealant for the first couple layers once I got the car. I use the Meguiar's mixed with Liquid Glass after every wash thereafter. Liquid Glass alone will leave many white glaze especially on select dull plastic trims.

Those spray on graphenes are good. Graphene is a conducting polymer so it attracts dust and it is not a good option for my current location.

For the last few years I have been using Meguiar's hybrid ceramic "wax" spray on my vehicles. Easy to use, hard to mess up, and lasts for a few months.

My favorite wax hasn’t been available for decades and my last tin of Slip Stream Aircraft Wax is getting empty. I’m interested in watching what works for others and any reasons people have for their opinions. ??

I use Zaino products. I found the product when I owned a jet black Corvette convertible. It eliminates any type of swirl in the clear coat and give the finish a wet look. I put my first two coats on my 23 GT two weeks ago. Zaino

I really like the Hybrid Solutions line including their ceramic spray and Pro Graphene flex wax to help as a rinse aid. They are very user friendly and yield great results. I would also search posts by @joebruin77 who has many good recs.

There are so many different kinds of paint protection products on the market, so choosing the right one depends on your specific needs and preferences.

If you enjoy applying an "old school" wax, I would recommend one of the Collinite waxes (either 845 or 915) or 3D Poxy (a Montan Wax). These waxes look great and, because they also have some synthetic polymers in them, they are a bit more durable compared to other waxes. One of the drawbacks of these waxes is that you have to take care not to get them on black trim, as they can stain black trim. They also are less durable compared to ceramic sealants or ceramic coatings.

If you want an easy to apply spray wax that offers some durable protection, I would recommend either Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Sealant or Griots Garage Ceramic 3-in-1 Wax. I have used both of them. They are super quick and easy to apply, last at least 4 to 6 months, and are safe to apply to all hard exterior surfaces including black trim. They also both contain some SiO2 (Ceramic), so they are a bit more durable.

If you want the most durable protection available, then hands down go for a ceramic coating. There are some easy to apply ceramic coatings on the market such as Gyeon Cancoat Evo or Meguiars Hybrid Paint Coating. These products will last 12 to 18 months. And there are other coatings that last even longer. The drawback to ceramic coatings is that they are not as forgiving when applying them. If you make a mistake, such as leaving them on too long or if you miss wiping off a high spot, you either have to live with it or polish it off and reapply.

Once you have your base or main paint protection installed, you then want to select a maintenance spray product to use between applications. For example, to maintain either a ceramic spray wax or a ceramic coating, I like to use either Xtreme Solutions Topper or Technicians Choice Ceramic Detail Spray.
