Profile keeps defaulting to Guest

I suspect (just based on how software tends to work, as I work in software) that this problem will be more prevalent with people who have multiple profiles going in and out of the car back and forth.

We rarely swap profiles. Like haven’t in months.

And the guest thing was suuuuuper common with me.

But it comes and goes. Recently only happened once in the last month. Before that was daily.

For me the common thread is the FOB. When I only use PaaK, the profiles never switch. Once I started carrying a FOB, it happens practically 50% of the time. I think the car might be confusing the two signals from my phone and the FOB, but the FOB is tied to my profile. It is very strange.

When I see the seat moving forward when I get in the car, I know it has selected the wrong profile and I press the "1" button on the door to revert to my profile. Minor inconvenience but it is annoying.

I never use the FOB, but my wife carrys her FOB all the time. Another issue is after she uses the car and then I use it, profiles lock and I have to refresh screen

sometimes my profile comes up but her CarPlay does When we are together after she has used car. Switching to my CarPlay has worked of late and easy.

Around half the time I get in my car it keeps defaulting to the Guest profile.

This means I have to hit the memory seat button, wait for the computer to load, go to profiles then click on my profile half the time.

Details:
I only have 1 profile and guest
I have BOTH my phone on me and key fob all the time.
I don’t leave the FordPass app running or open. (It’s closed unless I want to use it for some reason)
I deleted my wife’s phone from the car
I deleted then added the only key fob I use
I have “easy exit” activated


Anyone else with the same issue or found a solution?

Today for example I took the car to the gym, no problem it loaded my profile after sitting all night. Leaving the gym an hour later? Guest profile……

I use keyfob 2 and not only does the profile default to guest, the seat adjusts to keyfob 1’s settings. I set-up memory #3 to an appropriate position and push it each time I go to enter the car. I also preset the guest radio stations. I’m done trying to figure it out. I’ll just workaround the conflicts. It’s easier.

I've been told that Ford has isolated this issue and a fix is in the works. If I hear a timeline I'll post it if I'm able to. As someone who suffers from this bug all the time, I'm glad they've narrowed in on it.

Suddenly I confirm that issue still persist. After a month since this problem gone, today morning I found that my car is in Guest profile again and I was not able to fix it.

Disconcerting isn’t it? The guest profile bug has been in existence since the car was launched. So has the alarm not staying disarmed bug. And others. And they’re all still around.

When that happens hold volume down and seek forward simultaneously on the steering column. This will reboot sync and allow you to change it.

The "1" button on the door always works for me. But thanks for the tip in case that stops working.

yes not to mention the no key detected, can't open the door have to use the code, the securialert always defaulting on I shut it off daily it seems now and yet never alerting you when the car is open. They need better software people . The guy they brought in from Apple is not getting much done to fix obvious annoyances let alone keeping up with other electric car companies with software.

Doug Fields. He came from Apple but also was an executive at Tesla. Many of the issues we’re seeing are related to the problems with Ford’s OTA system and the car’s architecture. I think the next gen MME, 2025 or 2026, will see far better results.

And Tesla’s OTA system isn’t exactly perfect either. I’ll gladly put you in touch with my various Tesla owning neighbors, none of home have anything complimentary to say about the ota’s there. One neighbor described his 2020 MX as stuck on 2012 software. He actually prefers his 2022 Leaf.

While I’m on a Tesla roll Jeff, it also turns out that Tesla no longer delivers cars to any island other than Oahu out here. Buy a new Tesla? They tell you it’s in Honolulu at the Matson dock and you need to go get it. The Tesla store will not assist either. So that’s another $300 to $400 in airfare, plus time and then another $700 in inter-island shipping and a 3 to 6 week wait after you make arrangements. Ford uses a carrier that doesn’t require a ship to barge transfer for the same price as Tesla’s shipping.

No system is perfect I suppose.
