The Android BT stack is severely lacking and as a dev, it's really horrible to work with. It has been long documented about the shortcomings of it. While newer versions of Android are improved, the robustness of the BT stack is still lacking compared to iOS. This is something I fight against with the app I make, its pretty flawless on iOS but stability is hit and miss on Android -- lots of hacks and workarounds to get things to work.

Well it's been working pretty much perfectly so I thought I would post as much and see if it starts screwing up.

My PaaK with P7P has been pretty good lately, which means it only requires cajoling about once a week. But I did just receive a 2nd January Android update maybe a week ago (phone reports AP11.231215.009 build number) that pretty much made it unusable. I can't say 100% certain that was the cause, but I had to switch back to the key fob for a few days. I'm back to using just the phone again as of this past Monday and so far it mostly works. No clue what made it start working again but did receive some app updates (not FordPass though).

However, back when I had Android 13 and had tons of trouble and my Ford dealer service had my car in maybe 9-10 months ago to investigate, they apparently determined that I need a new APIM but it was on backorder with no ETA. Well I got my car back after 2 weeks and continued to suffer PaaK trouble until I got Android 14 beta, which seemed to fix it.

The Ford dealer called me four months back to say that the APIM finally came in, coincidentally around the same time that my HVBJB failure occurred, and they wanted to schedule the replacement. I told them to cancel the replacement because PaaK was working very well. But they keep calling me once a month trying to schedule replacement. Well yesterday they called again and I finally decided to let them swap the APIM since I had this recent PaaK trouble starting a week ago. I don't know if it will help, but it's worth a try. I'll take the car in Monday and they said it could take 1 to 2 days.

I'll give an update here after I get the car back and have used it for a week or two.

I have a Google Pixel 7 with Android 14 and Jan 5th, 2024 security updates. I have a 2023 Mach E CR1. PAAK does not work at all for me. I tried deleting the key and trying again but the deleted key hangs on to the screen (See picture). I've had difficulty adding new keys and it always gives me an error. I've also had issues with the unlock button being greyed out. If that happens I log out and log back in and it works for a while.

What is my best option here? Can I do a master reset? Or a ford sync reset?

Clear the app data and start over. Make sure there are no keys listed in the vehicle (forget where that's at). You will need to login and start over. I have had decent luck for 2 weeks until last night where the app refused to connect to the vehicle but the display showed me as connected.
I do have the Pixel 7 pro.

the vehicle side to reset is: Settings->General->Reset->FordPass Connect Reset->Phone As A Key Reset.

this will clear ALL keys so if you have others using your car you'll need to re-setup for them as well.

i have a pixel 7 as well and have had a very good PaaK experience since the late a14 beta releases through now so hopefully you can get this straightened out as well.

Thanks for the information. I tried it and cleared the keys but I am not able to add a new one. I get this error message. I might have to take it to a dealer but I'll try a few times before I do that.

I got the Feb Android 14 Beta update (AP21.240119.009) and PaaK now has been perfect.

Resurrecting this. I recently got a Pixel 7a, and PaaK has been very inconsistent. Walk away lock doesn't always lock (it was 100% reliable with my previous Samsung phone). Often it won't unlock when I walk up to it. I have reset PaaK, uninstalled FordPass, and started over, and still the same inconsistency. The phone has all the latest updates, so I am stumped and frustrated. Anyone have any additional tips?

I have a P7P and my walk away unlock works all the time but I often have issues (probably 10-20% of the time) with the bluetooth for PAAK not connecting and I have to open the fordpass app, then turn off bluetooth and back on again and it will connect. Even though battery optimization is not on with the fordpass app, it doesn't seem to be controlling the auto connection to the bluetooth in the car. Not sure if bluetooth just isn't listening or if the car isn't picking it up.
