The AC is great. If it isn't blowing cold air, then either AC isn't turned on, vents are closed, or the car is broken and don't buy!

However, the heater is horrible to the point of being almost useless during a northern winter, at least on the 2022 models.

So sad that the sales staff didn't know their product well enough.
It's actually one of the wonderful aspects of an EV!

Electric HVAC that doesn't rely on a internal combustion engine crankshaft to be turning just to spin the air conditioner compressor.

You can even turn on the HVAC before you are going to leave in the car so that it's comfortable when you enter the vehicle.

The very thing that has you hesitant to consider the Mach-E is ironically one of its strong suits.

If you do purchase one in the future, just know that you can turn on climate control from your smartphone. It will look like this :
(we live in remarkable times. :))

Yep, on hot days I hit the climate button a few minutes before my dog and I head out of the office. It’s just fine by the time we climb in. ??

Were the vents open? The first time I turned on my AC I had the same reaction, but discovered the vents were. not open. AC is excellent. I have a 2021 Premium ext battery.
Agreed. Ford ships the cars with the vent dampers closed to keep dust out. PDI should include opening the vents, but doesn’t seem to. My vent dampers were closed when I got my car too. ?‍♂?

Pre-heat! just takes time to get up to temp. The original heater is a bit undersized, but since 23.5 it has a more powerful heater.

Yeah, preheating works great. But once you're on the move, it either just blows cold air or fogs up the windows.

At least the heated seats work well (basically burns your flesh off), but that doesn't help the rear passengers. I fixed it by installing blankets. :ROFLMAO:

The AC works really well but there’s a ford implemented glitch that causes issues when running auto. Occasionally the car will not update its temperature readings until you’ve driven a mile so the ac never kicks on. You can always override it by turning auto off.

I love Ford AC. It blows cold air in couple minutes in hot Texas summer. MME air vents are very tiny compared to Edge so I had to turn the fan on one speed lower than the max speed.

Also, does the self-dimming rear view mirror actually work? On our Taurus, half the time it does not dim when someone is directly behind us. Can it be replaced with a manual adjusting rear view mirror?
It works very well; I've not had a problem with headlights 'beating' it. One of the upsides of this car for me. My previous car, a Honda, did a crap job dimming headlights.

It sounds to me like they turned the car on in accessory mode which doesn't power the AC Compressor. You have to put your foot on the brake, and hit the start button and actually put the car into run mode before the AC will work. Otherwise it's just the fan blowing air.

This is correct. If you just hit the start button without pressing the brake you wont get the AC compressor, just fan air when the car is in accessory mode. You need to press the brake pedal and actually turn the car "on" to get full climate control.

Thanks for all that replied. The vents were physically open as it was blowing hot air into the cabin. Is there a setting on the screen to turn on the vents? Also, the woman seemed knowledgeable as she has driven and sold several Mach E's before. She suggested they made a change for 2024 in the buttons/switches perhaps. She was going to take it for a spin when they reset the line of bumper-to-bumper cars in front of the dealership and figure it out. Mach1E may have been right in that the blower was on but not the A/C.

Also, I noticed on the Ford website that the Select model was not available until October. Are they prioritizing the more expensive models currently? We are retired and don't do road trips anymore. The farthest we go is 100-mile round trip when we visit the "big" city. 250-mile range with the LFP battery would be plenty.
I live in Texas and have had no issues with the AC so I am guessing it was a setting not set correctly. I leave mine in auto and just set the temp for my side and the wife sets it for her side. As far as the range given. That is under ideal conditions which are almost never met in the real world. Lower temps will cause a loss of range as will speed. I get better range during rush hour than when I get to go freeway speeds. Kind of the opposite of an ICE vehicle but the drive motors are not using any energy while you are standing still only climate control and accessories mostly. In an ICE vehicle it will still have the engine running so it will still be using more energy. I am semi retired so I go into town 3 times a week. I usually charge at home once a week on a day I don't go in. I still drive around doing errands but it is usually in city I live instead of the big city. It has been in the 90's the last few weeks and no issues with air conditioning. The car has said 119 several time when I get in it but my guess is the sun was heating up the sensor where ever it is located. Since the interior in mostly black that would be expected where I am at.

Unfortunately “selling a few Mach Es” doesn’t mean you know how to work the controls.

Typical salesperson response though….. “they must have changed the controls,” was her excuse for not knowing how to turn on the a/c.

They didn’t.

My favorite similar salesperson experience I had was helping my mom buy a new Lincoln Corsair a few years ago.

I spent about 5 minutes looking up the models online before going there. She looked at a complete base model, no options. The salesman said it came with 360 cameras.

My 5 minutes to become an expert let me know it didn’t.

He was certain it did. Even went as far to show me where the camera would be. And when it wasn’t in the grill, his response was “they must have hid it better on this model year.” ?

Salesperson 101-
Don’t BS when you don’t know something. A perfectly acceptable answer is “I’m not sure, let me look into that for you.”

I was just trying to figure this out too. If the car is in acessory mode it wont shoot cold air, only when the car is fully on it will. Not sure if this is standard in most, just what I have figured out after driving mine for the last 2 weeks.

The AC on the car is one of the things I have no complaints about.

I had some reservations before purchasing due to my model having a glass roof. But whatever filter they use on the glass works wonders to prevent the car from heating up.

The AC in Auto mode gets the car comfortably cool within minutes whenever it does heat up in the parking lot.

Bought a "used" mazda a few years back from out of state with 8 miles on it, current years model. No accidents, though still unsure how it was used with only 8 miles (local dealer surmised it may have sat in a mall or as a sweepstakes show car, but I digress). Come springtime and warm weather the A/C doesn't work. Bring it to said local dealer for warranty work. Manager calls me to tell me the A/C unit is missing from the car! Mazda covered it but never figured out if it came off the line like that or was robbed for parts from the original dealer.
