So how did Tesla get past that, all I have to do is press the screen or key fob to open my Model Y
I haven't seen anything official. The general assumption on this forum is that it's another case of Tesla operating on the 'ask for forgiveness rather than permission' model.

Those with updated firmware can open it from the screen, from PaaK, from the lever, and from the keypad. So technically we have more options.

just move really, really, really fast.
I need a Go Go Gadget arm... Come help!

Tesla plays fast and loose with a lot of things including people's lives.

Um, no, WE can’t and that’s sort of a sore subject with a majority of North American Mustang Mach E owners. Ford has claimed for some time that this will be resolved “soon” with an over the air update, but instead we’ve gotten … Notes ? (and not everyone has even gotten Notes yet ?)

Ah this lovely forum strikes again... Nit pick on semantics because you're salty that Ford hasn't given YOU the update. I think there are plenty of other posts for you to complain about that in.

For the discussion about what's possible in some of our (we) MMEs and in response to the original commenter, my reply is completely relevant and valid.

Semantics again ? Based on reports here, nobody has actually received an over the air update that actually enables the electronic front trunk release from the screen, door keypad, or app. Some people have had a software update (and it’s unclear if this is a module update done by the dealer), that enabled the display of inactive front trunk release controls on the Sync 4A screen and/or the FordPass app. ?
Remember, we ask people like you about your experience with features like this and BlueCruise because we don’t have those features yet ?

I understand and agree with you that many people have not received the update. That's why I said there's thousands of threads about people discussing/complaining about that. I wanted an MME in the beginning of the year, but I waited patiently for the GTPE because I wanted more and wanted the bugs (at least some of them) to be worked out. Many of us on this forum did the same.

The comment I was addressing was "why can Tesla do this but Ford can't". So although you might not be able to YET, Ford has given this ability to GT/GTPE and even possibly newer model non-GT variants. So my response was about why the commenter was incorrect in his assumption and had nothing to do with an assertion that all MMEs currently have that ability.

I'm more than willing, and happy, to try things out so that the community has an idea of what they can expect and also to hopefully help Ford (we know you're watching) work out any additional issues that might come up.

That may be the topic of the next NHTSA investigation.

Chicago or NJ would have worked, too.
