I live in a cold part of Hawaii. The climate here is a lot like Santa Barbara California. That’s cold by our standards. Most of the time I need neither heating nor air conditioning. All the concerns about cold and hot weather ops quite literally never occurred to me.

I live a sheltered life .

I derived this sheet awhile back from data on the bolt that gives a ball park of speed and temperature impact of current lithium battery tech. Speed and temp have an impact and trips may require a bit more planning. Something we all need to be aware of, unless we are blessed enough to live in Hawaii ;0).

While notable data, cold weather is not a factor I'm very concerned with regarding BEV range. We usually don't plan long road trips for the cold weather months (where there's chance of snowstorms and icy roads). We'll drive in bad weather around home, but range is a non-issue around home where we just plug-in in the garage every night. If we go somewhere far during the winter, we fly.

We sometimes take long road trips when it may be very hot though.

Yes and very soon my occupation will change to yours. Understand and have the same game plan. It is just something all need to be aware of prior to heading into moose country at -5 oF. With anything new understanding the machine you are operating is a safety thing. Appears you are aware and have planned. Heat does not have the same magnitude impact and it is more likely you would freeze to death than die of heat exposure in remote northern areas.

I meant how often does 50% use equal 130 miles. This is the info that is important prior to factoring in temp, speed, winds and road conditions. With your teslafi data at 66% range (efficiency) at 7 oF and running it from 90 to 20% you have 0.7 x 0.66 x "260" = 120 miles. Your next charger needs to be in that range and 200 miles a part is a no go.

My longest range on my Bolt was 307 miles on one charge. Drove it so I finished up near my home with probably 15 miles of range left. Had not yet reached the point where the system slows the car. Average speed was 47.5 mph. Quite possibly that is the sweet spot for the Bolt.

It may not be for the newest model the "Y" but it details what can happen:
For someone who lives by the beach in San Diego with day time temps between 65-75 F 90% of the year, this is music to my ears!

Which model 3 do you have (SR+/LRRWD/LRAWD)? I thought the ratings were 250 for SR+ and >315 for LR?
