tire changed at costco at 42k miles. but realize the efficiency and range droped noticable. used to be 260-280 miles range and dropped to 220 miles. for same driving daily, the average miles per kwh dropped from 4.4 to 4.1 or lower. did I selected wrong tire or battery pack can be damaged by costco during tire replacement?

Surely just tyres can’t make that difference?

Where did they jack up the car, have a look see if they jacked under battery rail or horizontal flat part of underbody adjacent to sill.

You’ll probably find the difference is more likely due to driving style, correction in GOM mileage due to driving history updates rather than tyres.

Conversely, after recent service I got this, I rolled my eyes & thought ā€œyeah, in my dreams?ā€

?. Could be the FP has converted to ā€œlong milesā€ in the UK … to go with long tons?

If there were damage to the battery pack, it would throw alarms. You probably got the wrong tires. We will never know since you’re not providing any info on what you had bs what you got.

If they didn't get high efficiency ev tires, absolutely!

Op, your miles per kwh means it's not the gom. It's not the battery. It's your tires (probably).

Chances of damaging the battery and having no system alert seems zero. You don't just lose 25 percent of your battery pack and have the car not screaming.... I hope....

May be a software glitch. My range at 80% was 168 this morning. About 25 miles lower than usual for this time of year.

Did the range actually change, or just the GOM readout?
People need to get used to the idea that the GOM is called the ā€œguess o meterā€ for good reason: it’s not an accurate measuring stick.

To the OP- yes, tires can affect efficiency, but don’t use the GOM to determine if they did.

I switched my OEM tires out at 33K miles. Based on the PAAK #'s I was getting 3.15 MpkWh. Based on my OpenEVSE data from 2024 my average was 3.01 M/kWh. Reading many posts and researching with Tirerack and my son (who is on his 3rd EV), I decided on either the Pirelli P Zero AS +3 or the Michelin CC2. My local dealer said they had both available at about the same price as TR or Disc Tire would have been. When I got there, neither of the tires were available, but the Michelin Sport Pilot AS4's were. My son Autocrossed these and liked the grip and handling, but didn't have range data.
At first, the numbers (total KWh in from the charger data, and the GOM) looked like a 10% drop in efficiency. Now, after a month of driving and one 700-mile trip from New Orleans to Houston, I see about a 3% drop (using the #'s from the PAAK application). I know some people say the charge data from the GOM is not very accurate, but I used same/same for initial comparisons.
The first month avg was 3.05 and the second month improved to 3.06, which is well within the margin of error.
Since I live in the Deep South, there was no heater usage and a little more AC usage over the tracked months, both sest of data were done with the cold tire pressures at 39 psi.
I should be pulling the charge data from my OpenEVSE system tonight and will be able to see, with better accuracy, if there was a significant drop in efficiency.

I have attached my spreadsheet, you can see some of the data only has one significant figure of accuracy (% charge). The OpenEVSE data should better precision.
