This happened to me once. I read on this forum somewhere that you can just push it open further and then it will remember your maximum open range

I have a 2023 MME Premium AWD ER that I purchased in January this year.

for the life of me I can not figure out how to fix the issue I am having with the rear hatch.

when pushing the button on the key fob or the exterior soft touch button the hatch will only open a very small amount.
I have to hit the button a second time to get the hatch to open all the way to the top.

I have done the height recalibration multiple times, I have tried putting it in manual mode, opening, closing, then putting it back to auto.

About 10% of the time it will open all the way to the top as it should, 90% of the time it only opens that 2-3”.

The 2023’s didn’t come with the foot sensor so there is no option of messing with those settings.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I'm having the same issue, same model. I've tried everything covered in this thread: quick touch, standing back, standing to the side etc. There is no consistent pattern. My FOB always opens it correctly. I've emailed FORD, I've emailed my Dealer - nothing.

Clearly this is a widespread problem and we are all just dealing with it. That is wrong. This needs to be fixed, preferably just in software so a patch can be issued soon. If it turns out to be an electrical issue too then they are going to have to provide us all with new latches. The function is BROKEN the way it works now.

The fix is a software fix and is going to be released soon

Good afternoon. Would you send over a private message with your VIN and dealer info so I can look into this hatch concern on my end? Thanks!
We are having the same issue with our new ‘23 MME Premium Ext

It appears this is mostly for the premium model or am I wrong here? I can hold the button in with my finger on the trunk, It’ll go all the way up. If I do a short press it’ll go about halfway up, if I double pump the key fob goes all the way up, double Pump it again it closes. I’m guessing I don’t have issue?

I have never had a problem with my '23. I do know you can adjust the lift height. That's probably what that link in Post #8 was about. Instructions are in the manual, too. There's likely to be a way to undo that. Maybe that would solve people's issue.

There was a software fix for this that came our a few months ago (maybe 4.6?). I haven't had this issue since that installed.

Didn't have this problem at all on my 2022 Premium, but the issue is there since day one on my 2023 GT. Def a software bug.

Any method of opening the hatch should open it the entire way. There should be no stopping after a couple inches, no stopping half way up. Any behavior besides full open on any attempt is the bug. This was confirmed fixed in an OTA update, but I have not received that update yet.

I was trying to find it, and I thought I was reading it in the manual, but I might’ve been reading it somewhere else. But there was a way to program how far you want that to open from what I could understand by using the button once it’s all the way open, and I cannot find where I was reading it at. The reason I say that was I never actually look at the button after it’s all the way open. I always just hit the square button to shut it but when you monkey around with the round button to open it , you can make it come to a certain level and stop, still trying to figure out where I was reading.

There definitely is a way to set the default open height. I never heard there was a way to open it fully with one method, and open it to your desired height with another. I thought it was all or nothing.

My 2023 does not have the square button on the left to close it anymore. They replaced that with a blank button filler. Only the central round button exists now. My 2022 has both buttons. Not sure why they did that as it is confusing for others. It's not clear the middle button closes it really.

I’m sorry to tell you I have a 23 GT and I have two buttons and they both work. You hold the round one you hear the bells and whistles in the car. It closes you press the button again it opens. You press the square button you hear the bells and whistles. It closes again.

I always hear that job 1 or job 2I have no idea what job I have or how to even find that, I’m just now realizing who BEV group is lol
All I know is both buttons work. And after everything I’m reading I’m not really looking forward to updates which I have not been getting since I pretty much had the car. I think I’ve had one update. I don’t know.
