Yup, my wife's RAV4 Prime is great (and I actually like the looks). We've had it for 3 months (2000 miles), taken one 350 mile road trip, and still have never put gas in it. The free tank of gas it came with from the dealer will probably last us a year unless we go on another road trip or two.
One 350 mile road trip without recharging? The Rav4 has faulty gas tank specifications of 14 gallon rating but very hard to reach more than11

The first 50 miles were electric, followed by 125 miles in hybrid mode at 43 mpg. I got a full charge on 120V overnight at my desination, so the return trip was the same 50 miles of EV followed by 125 miles at 43 mpg. The gas tank was about half full when I returned (a month ago) and it still is.

The gas tank is 14 gallons, but I've heard that the low fuel light comes on when there's still quite a bit of gas left in the tank. I haven't used enough gas yet to confirm this.

Sounds like you should get back what you paid.

Just curious though, what do you want to buy instead?

Pretty much all the BEVs on the market are giant buggy cell phones. You going back to ICE?

I’ve only had my GTPE a few weeks, but having to drive my wife’s 2015 Flex feels like I traveled back in time to the dark ages.
When I hop in our ‘18 Ecoboost Flex it feels like a hot rod, rolls like limo, spools up with serious grunt.

Try daily driving a GTPE then hop in a regular v6 Flex, then you will feel my pain.

And the low def tiny backup camera? Oof. Again, feels like time travel, and in a bad way.

I could see that. I followed a Camaro on a wiggly road section and it’s weird, I could hear the V8 exhaust as the MME is damned quiet. I chased him around a few tight turns and even the MME Select corners and accelerates well out of 35-45 mph curves. Though a little spooky on those narrow tires.

Better put some stabilizer in the tank. ;)

I am in the Bay area. I could only get two instant quotes. GMTV is two grand more over vroom. On my other car, shift and vroom are the highest. I ordered the quotes the same and by vendor. FYI I sold my Mazda 3 on shift.com last year and the experience was stellar, I didn't price quote shop so I may have not gotten the top deal (I was happy with the quote, it was like 1-2k over trade in but under private party per KBB. Saved me the hassle of private party).

  • Carvana.com ??? They were stumped

Sorry about the funny bullet point format....
Another source if you can access it is the Manheim auction data. Knock down a few thousand from there and that's what dealers and online vendors should be paying for it. For a Mach-E GT (unsure if any are PE probably not), I asked a friend with access to it.

In reality, the best service to use (dealer, Carvana, CarMax, Vroom, etc.) is dependent on location and timing, as well as sales tax rules in your state.

On my 2018 Fusion Energi, Carvana's number beat everyone, with CarMax about $1,000 less, and requiring a multi-hour drive each way to drop it off.

That said, Carvana's profit on my vehicle (selling price minus what they paid me) is very small, around $1,400. And, they took my car on 10/21, and as of 11/18 it remains unsold. I suspect they didn't figure out what I did after several months of attempts to privately sell it - a "niche" car like a Fusion Energi has a limited market, especially with Ford discontinuing sedans and killing off the vehicle a few years back.
I sold my Fusion Energi for $4k over blue book in 3 days, at my asking price, to a private party. I wouldn’t call a nice phev niche.. it’s just not a well known variant. Just depends how you market it I guess. Car max, carvana, etc were all junk offers for me on the 3 vehicles we sold this year. Could be the area I live in I guess.

Rav4 Prime are in short supply. I assume yours went well over msrp?
I do not have one. A co worker bought one in October for MSRP. I do not mind the Look (much better than the non prime’s) and he gets the same free charging at work as I. I think it’s a great family option If you like Toyota’s.

Sounds like you're not well setup to maximize your resale value.

Edit - And I have to add, who buys a car for software? We bought this vehicle for the following top reasons:

- Wanted an EV
- Performance, acceleration
- SUV/hatchback design with room for stuff
- Appearance
- Pushing Ford to move forward, or it, and the American auto industry, won't be around in 10 years.
- Son works for Ford Credit, we get A-Plan pricing and support his company

Ford is not a software company. Ford is not a tech company. Anyone buying this vehicle because of software didn't do their homework IMO. Our 2018 Fusion Energi didn't do an OTA in the 3 years we owned it, and that was just for Sync. Their Support for tech issues has always been awful. We have to push them to keep improving.
I mean the entire car needs software to run... It's not like previous cars where you can do everything without it. I'm sure you have seen the many threads where the software has failed especially the one where the car dies goes 70mph on the highway for one poster on this site.

The entire car has run on software/firmware for decades.

The software issues go beyond bugginess, though heaven knows that's a horror show in its own right. I can't stand a lot of the UI designs Ford has made with respect to how many taps are needed to see something that should either be one tap away or displayed ALL THE TIME and that's something that bothers me every single time I drive the car and they're almost certainly never going to change, at least not before I either sell the car or shoot myself in the face with a bazooka.
You have something others want right now. That puts you in the..ahem…driver’s seat. List it for MSRP and see what happens. There is a gap in inventory at he moment as the 2021s are essentially all gone, and the 2022s are months away.

As BMT1071 noted, it's been this way for a long time - software embedded in the vehicle. "On the column" shifters haven't mechanically shifted the transmission in a long time.

I also don't buy a new PC because I think Windows is wonderful. I buy it to use it, and bitch when the software doesn't perform as I expected - but I don't go buy an Apple product instead. I wouldn't buy any car because the software does something. "Look, I can summon my Tesla with my phone!". My response - you spent how much to watch your car slowly drive over here instead of walking over to it?
