I'm concerned with how will it hold up to the weather, dirt, and UV.
It’s used for weather stripping. It’s literally designed to hold up to weather, dirt, and UV. If it wears out, it’s a simple replacement, too.

I admit it’s far from perfect, but it‘s working.
If/when Ford comes up with its official fix I’ll just pull it off.

In the meantime, I’m enjoying the quiet.

Sure. But do you want to take your car to the dealer - probably multiple times - and have your car taken on test drives - probably multiple times - and be told at least once - probably multiple times - that the issue couldn’t be reproduced or that this is normal, and just generally hassle with this to get your “warranty repair” for an issue that can easily be remedied yourself for a few bucks?

Now let’s find a similar DIY fix for the driver screen coil whine.
I don't care what anyone else says - that's damn funny. Sounds like every time I take my F150 in to address some kind of problem.

I agree with this. EVERY time except for once when I took a car back to the dealer about a noise issue, they either cannot find it or make it worse. No matter how good a shop is, they're not going to be able to generate precision better than the factory when reassembling what they had to disassemble. (Ironically, the only time it didn't get worse was when I owned a Ford, so there is that.)

So if it's noise, I want a DYI fix.

With that said, I'm glad people are complaining about it here! Hopefully it will get the good people at Ford to fix the issue!

this type of foam is *usually* not intended for direct exposure to UV, and it may degrade rapidly... may need replacing annually, or replaced with a pvc gasket intended to go around windows.

I could replace it annually (or even monthly) with joy in my heart.
It takes 90 seconds and dramatically increases the quality of my drives.

That's a nice temporary fix for if/when Ford develops a "permanent" solution. Like you've said, it's easy and cheap to replace or remove if necessary.

I bet it is way quieter!
I always admire the DIY solution... ;)

You might try poking thru the JCWhitney catalog for various seals and gaskets intended to run around door edges and windows. They may have a more durable solution, sold by the foot, that you can run around the sides....

I admire your refusal to not take No as an answer. I would only apply it to the front as the water drainage system around the glass roof need to breath. Great work to find simple solution.

It's a good quick and dirty temporary fix. But yeah, Ford needs to apply a real fix. If just filing that gap takes care of most of it, then more caulking adhesive should do it.

Scraping ice and snow off might yank that out, but no big deal if it does. Just cut off another section.

Good job.

I have the wind noise too and I informed the dealer last week and they said they cant do much other than report to Ford which is OK. To doubly make sure - I called ford 800 number (800-3923673)option 4, option 2 and gave them my VIN and informed them that I would to report the wind noise issue . The lad y took the info and said it will be reported to the right department (what ever that is). Whether anything comes out of it I am not sure but at least wanted to make sure its reported and documented.

She also confirmed that there is no other way to report any issues other than calling that number.
