Valvoline Instant Oil Change also offers a good tire rotation service. The lowest price here for a tire rotation is $20. In some locations, it can go as high as $30. Valvoline centers have lift equipment that should make the task of disengaging and re-attaching tires a lot easier, and you may be assured when trying this service there.

My car does 160+ and I'm comfortable with a V rated tire. My 1/2 mile trap speed is in the low 140's. When they rate a tire, they rate it for a long time, as in, you can drive at that speed until the tire is worn out, and it won't come apart. No way I'm pulling 149+ long enough to wear a tire out, even if I had unlimited space. Battery wouldn't last but maybe 100mi, or roughly 30min, at that speed.

Well maybe this is just me. I spent $25 per tire for a lifetime warranty with American Tire. With that comes FREE BALANCING AND TIRE ROTATION for the LIFE of my tires plus any kind of road hazard with ZERO depreciation. For $100 it is well worth it. I do it EVERY 5000 miles or if I hit a pothole. Unlimited times.
Why would I even think about doing it myself???

at the same time the laser check each tread and it stays on their computer. As such I compare every 5000 miles my wear and tear and can tell how I am driving.

Doing it yourself is faster than taking it somewhere and you don’t have to be on a scheduled appointment, get a ride, or wait in a grungy waiting area. You can clean your brake calipers and inside of the wheels while you have each wheel off. You can check out suspension and brake components for any anomalies or safety issues.

I use a low profile bottle jack for the first corner (driver rear), which raises the left side of the vehicle enough to get a PowerBuilt 2-ton UniJack (jack + stand) under the left front. A couple of pumps on the jack and I can get the other Unijacks in. The car will rest safely on three bottle jacks, so I can swap in the last UniJack for the bottle jack. Ultimately, one on each corner of the vehicle so i can jack straight up and have all four wheels off the ground. All these on permanently-installed aluminum pucks at the jack points. I use a battery powered impact for removing and lightly tightening the lug nuts, followed by split-beam click torque wrench set to 150 ft-lb.

The car’s structure is designed for much higher dynamic loads than a static imbalance while on jacks; I wouldn’t worry the slightest about the glass roof or the battery.

We have discount tire where I live. They rotate for free regardless of whether you buy tires from them or not.
Discount Tire and America's Tire are the same company. Yes, free tire rotation and balancing and flat repair for all.

??? this. The idea of making an appointment at the busiest time of year, waiting two hours, and worrying if the techs did it right is so unappealing to me. I have my own tools like you and can swap winter and all season tires in less than 45 min.

Lifetime warranties only cover a tire at depreciated value based on remaining tread life. Buyers don’t realize what they have until it’s needed.

NOT TRUE. American tire takes zero DEPRECIATION until the tire hits a tread depth of 3 or 4 millimeters. Many times when i have gotten a nail in the side wall they just give me a new tire. One time I had 20,000 miles on my tire and got a brand new one but I had to pay the $25.00 since I had to get a new warranty. this is the WHY I ONLY use them. On line it is called TIRE RACK. They are nationwide so I can go in anywhere. My warranty is on line so I do not need to prove anything. They also always find discounts for me so i never pay full retail for tires.

Discount Tire has also bought Tire Rack.
As far as I can tell, there are no Discount Tire locations in NJ. Does the purchase of Tire Rack have any implications for tire shops here that are connected to Discount Tire?

I would contact Tire Rack and ask them......honest it is THE best company to deal with. NEVER a hassle. In fact one time I took my car into the local ford dealer because I was leaving town the very next day for service and they somehow ruined my tire but the only thing they had in stock since I was leaving was some off brand tire. Anyway after getting back from my trip I went into american tire to pay the $25.00 for the new tire and they took it and at the same time I asked them to rotate it and balance since I just came off a long road trip with my MME. As they were rotating it they found a bubble in the new tire and even though I just bought the warranty on a tire that I did not purchase there they called to tell me and their exact words were:

" I have good news and bad news."
I asked....ok what is the bad news?

reply...you owes us $25.00

I asked naturally why???

They responded well that is the good news. Your tire that you had just insured is unrepairable so we put on a new one and you now owe us for the warranty on the new one.

I was VERY happy to pay the $25.00 again.

Thanks. What's the connection between American Tire, Discount Tire, and TireRack?

If Tire Rack services them then the warranty should be the same but I would inquire to make sure. I only deal with American Tire
