Here's the quick response. Unfortunately it looks like Mach E buyers of his brackets will have to do their own modifications. I really hope the adhesive tape failure was a one-off incident.

Mark,

Sorry hit send on the last email before I was complete.

1. This bracket was never designed specifically for the Mach E. It is our universal bracket. It was sent to a Mach E forum member who tested it and said that it worked as designed. So nothing was changed. I do not intend on making a new design.

2. If the tape failed between the tape and mounting base, I will happily send out a new mounting base in this situation. All I would ask is that the old mounting base be returned. No other forum members have reached out to me about failed tape.

To remove the tape from the bumper cover, you will have to take your thumb and roll it off as much as possible, then apply some Goo Gone to get the remaining adhesive off.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Respectfully,

Craig Broussard

Mark don't use goo gone, unnecessary, it will leave a residue that's hard to remove. Lke craig said roll off and clean with alcohol pad.

Thanks. I was already questioning the Goo Gone recommendation. Hopefully fingers and alcohol will do.

Indeed it rolled right off. Used a bit of isopropyl to finish the cleaning. Craig is sending me a new mounting plate with the tape on. Hopefully it will stay on the plate. I had to mail him the old one, though -- shipping stuff has gotten expensive!

While the 2021 Mustang Mach E page (http://ccmustangbrackets.com/product/2021-mustang-mach-e/ ) still exists, Craig no longer promotes this page on his menu:

This bracket is still found under the Universal Bracket tab. When I emailed him about my failed adhesive, he informed me he has no plans to make a bracket specific to the Mach E.

I think a better solution, one which is also in the "Pipe Dream Department," would be to move towards the use of reflective vinyl front plates. There is a Canadian company that will sell duplicates of your front plates, but there might be legal issues. Hawaii law, for example, requires that you use the issued plates. Spoil sports.

Agreed. However, at this point I think that requires changes in 49 states. IIRC only CA allows these so far.

Never believe what you read on the internet either. The aforementioned Canadian website says, "There is no such law that determines that non-standard vinyl licence plate replica are illegal. Therefore, you should not be in any legal trouble for using a non-standard vinyl licence plate replica." So I read Hawaii's state law about license plates. That law clearly states we (drivers) are required to use the issued plates. No, the vinyl wraps are not "illegal," you just can't use them. :p

I'd go and do it anyway @ChasingCoral, but we have annual safety inspections here and they even measure window tint during those inspections. I'm not sure a vinyl plate would pass.

Interesting. I have had Craig's on since the day after I had the factory mounted bracket taken off back in May. Never had an issue with any sensors.

Now, I would like the plate to sit higher to disguise the two upper bumper plugs so I may do this anyway. Nice DIY solution for those with issues.

What model ME do you have? I'm really surprised it doesn't set off your sensors as my car was virtually undrivable before modifying the bracket. I was just waiting for it to apply the brakes thinking I was about to hit something.

Premium. If i get the front of the car too close to something, the front camera comes on and the red notification bars show up at the front of the car's 360 view as it should. Otherwise the sensors are not affected by the bracket.

I found everything at my local hardware store.

I used 5mm bolts (2 x 9mm long and 2 x 10mm). Flange nuts, safety washers and a drop of locktite.

The bracket is about 2” long and fit the 5mm bolts perfect.
Was the bracket also found at the hardware store? Thanks!

Well, I spoke too soon. Over the weekend I had taken off the bracket for a car show. I put it on yesterday morning. Low and behold, at low speeds, the front sensors kept going off showing the red indicators right where the bracket was.

I checked and I had put the plate a bit farther away from the bumper than I had previously. I adjusted it closer and the sensors stopped going off. I suggest people having this issue to do the same and see if that works for them.

I still want to raise mine to hide the bumper plugs but for those who got their cars without the factory installed license plate bracket, looks like Craig's could still be a viable option. I'll get a photo to add here soon.

I put ours on 2 days ago and we've had 2 days worth of front sensor beeping. So I've removed it for now.

Can you show a side profile view of the position you manage to get no sensor alerts? I had it mounted (I think?) to where the plate was vertical, i.e. perpendicular to the ground, with just enough pressure on the 2 rubber pads to not flap. I'm wondering if you found an angle that works better than being perpendicular.

For those that got tickets in the past for no front plate: Were you actually *pulled over* or were they tickets left on the car while it was parked? I'm wondering if at least getting pulled over it can be explained to the officer that the plate causes sensor interference until there's a "software update" but if they ticket is left while unattended we've got no chance for a plea!
