Star White Paint Chipping

I am not sure what to do. I have had my car less than a month and the $600 extra paint I paid for is chipping on the hood. Nothing has hit the car (unless an insect caused that).
I am also not on good terms with the dealership I got it from due to reporting them to big Ford for the mark up and telling me about some shady ordering practices they've been doing for the Mach E. (Having employee's pre-order Mach E's and then cancel when it arrives so they can sell it)

Is this one of those things I have to suck up and handle on my own or is this something Ford will address?

Name and shame time! What dealer is doing these crappy things?

They could have happened during shipping and no one noticed them. Likely the dealer never even bothered to look, these aren't guys used to selling $50K to $60K vehicles so they just run them through a car wash and hand them off.

The other thing is that chips can happen and you won't notice them. You see lots of people with cracked windows saying they had no idea what happened, yet, you can see where the rock hit.

Good luck with it. At least it's fully painted, which it might not be if it were a Tesla.

I also had several paint chips on my hood and front, which is what finalized my decision on doing PPF.

The paint on this car does seem to chip easily. I noticed yesterday a rock chip on my passenger front door now too. Not sure how it got all the way back there but definitely a rock chip.

I have one on my passenger front door as well. There were two of us in the car when we heard something hit the side of the car as we passed a rock hauler. It was after that trip when we noticed it so we concluded that was the cause.

All cars chip so I'm not sure how anyone would get a defect or warranty claim. I have had defective paint from the manufacture on a Chevy Berretta when washing her with a garden hose and he entire hood, roof and trunk of paint peeled right off

I was referencing the additional $600 that Star White cost, sorry, not additional protection. But even without additional protection, I feel my paint shouldn't chip when nothing has happened to it and it is garage kept.

Sorry to hear about your Berreta, that sounds like it would have been horrifying!

Chips on the hood happen, the only way to really prevent them is a clear bra or similar.

Some colors have an upcharge, some don't. That color costs $600 extra on the price.

My installer recommended getting Dr. Colorchip touch up paint. He touched up the chip and also used it to paint the plugs used where the license plate holder used to be.

I've used Dr. Colorchip on other cars and it's easy to do and is hard to tell where the touchup was. Much better than the old brush on touch up paints.

I recommend buying a Dr. Colorchip kit, then get PPF applied. I had the entire front end and mirrors done on my car. Wish I could have afforded to do all over.

ahh, thanks I thought they sold you some sort of paint protection for life extra, that never works. all paint chips, especially the all painted front ends.

Star White also, had a chip by the bottom lip of my trunk. No idea how it happened. Noticed it while washing the car. My best guess is I did it while loading my son’s new Power Wheels into the back. I bought the regular OME touch up and did it. My first time using touch up paint, but it turned out okay (I used to do scene painting in college, so I felt somewhat competent.) Now that it’s worn in a bit, you can really only tell when you’re right on top of it.

My new grumble is the rear left window has a big scratch in it somehow. Along with dealing with the driver door not recognizing the fob issue.

Same here, chip on bottom of lip. Took it to paint repair shop with bottle of the OEM touch up paint for Star White in tow, along with back bumper bra. Looks great.
