48k miles 2022 GT. I have replaced the HV junction box at 20k miles. So whats up? Car is bricked. Too early to call for a tow, luckily I am in my driveway, but in a position that will not make it easy to get a tow truck. Reading on the forums, could this be a dead 12v battery? Should I try charging it?

Do you have another 12V battery to pop the frunk with? Try that first.

Quick update. Went outside about an hour ago, it turned on. Had the red car with line through it warning and 'service vehicle soon' sign. But it turned on. I called my dealer and drove it there. Going to let them figure it out.

16 months left before I need to decide to pay off the balloon or give it back to Ford. I was planning on keeping it. But stuff like this just pushes me back the other way. Only question is which other EV to buy instead next year if I give it back... Too bad for Ford, things like this happening sour the experience

Unfortunately repeated failures of the HVBJB seem to be a less than random occurrence. And, given that 2024 vehicles also fail, I for one think that Ford hasn't solved this problem for the Mach-E. Lightnings don't seem to have any issue with their HVBJB.

Seriously, things like that can happen with ANY vehicle. When a 12v goes belly up in ICE car, I've observed all kinds of weird things happen.

Please update with the issue. My guess is it is the 12V battery as there appears to have been a slew of failures at the 3 year mark. Pretty sure I am going to replace mine as soon as I get back to Alaska! 22 GT just hitting the 36 month timeline.

If you are approaching the three year mark on your 12v battery, I would seriously urge you to replace it--time is not on your side. That's just my opinion...I may be wrong...

I'll be 4 years on the original 12v this July. I had the dealer stress test the 12v on my 30k mile check last month, and it passed with strong numbers. Any one of the following scenarios could play out in the future:
  • It could continue to provide reliable service for months/years
  • It could die tomorrow
  • I could replace it the day after tomorrow before it dies and the new battery could die in a week
  • etc......
In the end this is not entirely unlike a 12v in an ICE vehicle. I've certainly had those die without warning. Sometimes they do indicate something is amiss with slow crank-over, but no guarantees. I rant about Ford neglecting to provide easily obtainable health status on the 12v since it most definitely is a consumable item that is vital to the vehicle operation. I can get this in a snapshot way with Car Scanner/OBD, however.

Quick update. Car is still in service. Going on 2 weeks but they have diagnosed the problem. It’s the auxiliary battery junction relay that needs to be replaced. This is for the 12V battery. I also told them I want a new 12V. It’s a 2022. So why not. Glad it’s still under warranty. Sheesh!
