It was 95 degrees today in Austin, TX, and after leaving my vehicle parked under some trees, I came back to it with the ambient air temperature reading 121 degrees on the SYNC screen. This is the first time I have ever had it be this off compared to the actual temperature. It was so hot the IPC was telling me to plug in the car to power. I have left it parked in much hotter weather in July, August and never had this happened.

Yesterday, I successfully ran the BECM update, powertrain updates, and the SOBBM update. I highly doubt this has anything to do with it but could the updates have thrown the temperature sensor off?

Has anyone else had any extremely inaccurate temperature readings with no real explanation?

In really hot weather, mineā€˜s always way off on startup, usually 13-17 degrees too high. I’ve never seen it as far off as yours.

The first time I did updates my temp sensor was way way way off like yours.

It corrected itself not long into the first drive.

Good to know! Although I did the updates yesterday and drove around in similar weather. It was fine then. Weird this issue appeared today. Hopefully it’ll correct itself.

When it's 112 in Phoenix some of us observe Mach-E temp displays as high as around 125 or 130. I think @SnBGC has posted photos of even higher temps?

When you turn on the car, it's likely showing the temp that was displayed from when it was last turned off. The temperature shown on the SYNC display doesn't begin to sample new temps into the displayed moving average until you drive at least some minimum speed for a few minutes.

In hot weather, we think the readings are high due to the sensor's low placement close to the hot pavement.

Welp, it's 80 degrees here in Austin today, and I just got in my car to a reading of 109 degrees. By the time I reached my destination (~10 min), the sensor was accurate again but wow is it off when I get in the car after the updates. Maybe it was always this way but I only recently noticed after doing a lot of the 21P22 updates that a previous dealer hadn't completed for me.
