Agreed. While this is still apples & oranges, but this timing is an indication that price wars are potentially coming.

I went and checked Tesla.com. Fully loaded, five-seat Model Y = $58, 290 (including remaining available federal rebate).

My First-Edition MME, $60,300 (not including $7,500 rebate).

Will Ford hold, or call?

But with no tax credit.
Much has already been discussed about Model Y vs. ME. I could see a significant price reduction on it moving the needle for some (along with the slight delay in ME launch), but it looks like that's not a model they're discounting yet.
Or, to answer your question, Ford won't drop prices because Tesla has on the S, E and X. I'm not sure they would even if there was a price drop on the Y.

The model S dropped $5k and model 3 is down either $2k or $3k. Not sure about X as I have never priced one.

So in other words, that MME is $60,300 - $7500 = $52,800 vs the $58,290 for the Model Y.

Sounds like Ford already has the better hand.

Would be more interesting if there was mention of a Model Y price cut.
Exactly. Ford will probably be discounting it's older models too. But not the brand-new latest/greatest about to come out.

Can probably get a good deal on a Fusion, or an Edge.

Don’t see the logic in Ford cutting the selling price of the Mach-E, when it appears they will have more orders for the initial year of production than they can fill --- 50,000 unless LG Poland ups their delivery schedule.

My buddy points out the Model Y is arguably better than the S/X and needs a bigger price gap to the Model 3.

So likely no, the Mustang Mach-E won't drop in price since it's already competitive to anything else that comes close.

No reason to since the production is limited. Also, it's up to the dealers to sell, they will trade with other dealers or provide incentives if that were to become necessary.

Tesla may be trading some profit margin for marketshare, but alternately they may be reflecting lower internal costs due to new battery developments. I don't think Ford is in a similar position, however as was mentioned with limited production they likely don't have to try to compete dollar for dollar.

Based on just gut feelings, I predict Ford drops prices by 10K to about 50K. With incentives, it will be in the 40K range, which is where analysts expect cheaper 2021 Model Ys to be.
