I don't understand this fan-boy mentality. Are you going to discount that they developed a market that otherwise wouldn't exist. Before Tesla the green option was a Prius - which was an automotive punching bag for mockery.

I believe in Tesla, I like what they have done and hope they as an American company thrives . I obviously liked the Mach-E to spend money on it.

I don't care what company survives, I care who's doing right, who's pushing innovation. Tesla, Ford, etc... Could go away tomorrow and I couldn't care less. I own (a little) $TSLA and $F stock so I have a (little) vested interest in them both doing great things

Of the OG "big 3" Ford is likely the only one to survive long term, expect the business model to change. Thinking it won't or not adapting quick enough is why there's a bunch of empty buildings with a faded circuit city sign hanging on them.

The only way Tesla isn't around in 100 years is because the old thinking of the companies with money will lobby their way to beating them. I'll be long dead so I don't care what company is around in 100 years
There is a word I’d like you to look up the definition of… “myopia”.

Put me down as another vote for more configurations. I would have loved to have Magnaride as an option on my AWD EXT. Would have paid mucho dollar for it as well, no interest in the GT. I like that Blue Cruise is an option with a renewal option. I would have loved about 6 more wheel options and an option for a good heat pump. Also would pay mucho dollar.

I don't know anyone who thinks more options is confusing or not good. Where does this type of thinking come from?
If you've never gone shopping for floor tiles or paint colors it will break your brain with the number of options. Don't get me wrong I love having choices, hence why I use Android. However there is a thing with having too many options. Once you see 100+ floor tiles or colors they all start to look the same after a while. I got so tired of the process I told my wife to pick 3-5 options and I would choose from that ?. Be careful what you wish for.

A few hours before I saw this thread, I was thinking what a brilliant approach Ford took with the MME. Between the various models and configurations, the MME appears to a very wide group of people.

I thought about the competition, and the e-tron for example. The e-tron is definitely a very nice vehicle, but to me it is not significantly differentiated from any other small Audi SUV. In fact, it costs more and has less range when compared to the ICE equivalent. Why buy one? Just because you want a BEV? Is it faster, handle better, or anything better than its ICE equivalent? Not to me. I am sure some see the value because they are buying them, but I don't.

Tesla (roundly hated in this forum) offers something unique - very high driving performance and cool technology. So I understand why someone wants a Tesla. It is has real attributes that are differentiated from the ICE equivalent.

Ford has done something very similar with the MME, IMO. It is a very unique product, and I think it also offers high performance and cool technology. Besides better quality, Ford is beating Tesla with the MME because it provides more choices and can appeal to a wider group of consumers. This is why I obviously disagree with the OP.

I don't think the current BEV competition offers similar variety of choices at this price point. And I don't think the current BEV competition offers similar performance and technology at this price point. Maybe someone can point out a competing model that matches the variety and capabilities of the MME at this price, but I can't think of one. (I am a Rivian fan also, but my Rivian R1T configuration is $90k. My GT is under $61k after the x-plan discount.)

So while the OP sees a problem with the various options and configurations, I see it as a significant competitive advantage. It is why Ford will sell all the MMEs it can produce, and buyers will be more satisfied, and Ford will see more repeat business. It is excellent product positioning and Ford knocked it out of the park with the MME. IMO.

Tesla is not hated in this forum… Tesla fanboi’s that can’t imagine someone thinking that Elons way isn’t the only way like to pretend that they are persecuted here. That’s a big difference.

You don’t pay kickstarter until the product you invest in meets their funding goals and begins production.
Some times you guys are so literal - "Its not what I say, its what I mean"

And Indigogo does in fact collect payment right away, whether they deliver or not.

I agree with much of your thinking, but the Route 1 is very good, certainly not a compliance car
My Route 1 certainly complies with my personal requirements, so I guess I can call it a compliance car!

I can't get a 300+ mile range with a metal roof. So I have to buy something that I don't want to get the range I need ("need").

There aren't enough options. I'm hoping they move the glass roof into an option instead of a standard part of the package.

I agree - The ID4 gets massage seats but even they missed cooling.

I'd like options for air-conditioned seats and a nice heads-up display.
I really want to see the the AR HUD in the the new Kia
