I think that Teslas charge at up to 250 KW, 66% faster than MME. This would make a difference on long trips, perhaps cutting 10-80 time from 36 minutes to twenty-ish. Even after we (eventually) get our adapter, we still won’t take the MME on our long trips to NC or Chicago because a) the cost is almost the same as gas for my wife’s Infiniti (so I read/hear) and b) we don’t have the patience to sit for the extra half-hour to add 210 (best case) miles of range vs. the 400+ miles of range in our gas car. If we owned a Tesla we might at least try it once!

Dog mode has been requested for a long while. Not a comment from Ford.

But even if an extremely basic feature existent on every other EV I know of, which is the ability to see how fast I'm charging, hasn't been implemented after 3.5 years, not having dog mode doesn't surprise me.
You can see how much energy you take onboard. FordPass, select your vehicle, energy page and right there are all the stats. Now…..the FordPass has gone thru some updates and for a short time that energy page wasn’t updating the energy updates. Check for the latest updates on the FordPass.

I want energy displayed in simple units, understandable to the average Joe. Something like milli-joules per fortnight ?

I have had a Lexus RZ, a 2021 Mach-E first Edition, a Tesla Model Y and currently a "24 Mach-E Premium. No need to discuss the Lexus. Frankly, the only thing the Tesla has over the Mach-E is the "Dog Mode". The Dog Mode keeps your car cool while you run into the store etc. A message pops up on the screen showing inside temperature and stating my owner will be back (don't call the police). The rest of the Tesla software is a distraction or "boy toys" like lights flashing, windows going up and down while music plays. Really? A software update for "dog mode" in Mach-E would be useful, appreciated and should not be too difficult.
It also had Sentry Mode. That's what I miss. If anyone messes with your car they are on camera. Would love to see that on the MachE

Exactly. I am a mechanical guy (grease, not electron monkey). The only thing I want to know is 90% by 8:30 pm. That’s it.

Need:
- Charging rate shown IN THE CAR. (If you can show it in the app, surely you could show it in the car)
- On demand setting button IN THE CAR for battery preconditioning.
(just stop with the weird convoluted departure time nonsense in the app...make it a simple on demand button for preconditioning NOW - and do it in the app as well)
- Better 12V battery management (at the very least a notification in the car and on the app - text message that alerts when battery is low and needs charge)
- Trunk and Frunk release buttons ALWAYS shown on top band of screen. (No need to bury a commonly used button into a menu or submenu)
- Leave the main screen ON and usable until the doors are shut and locked.
(Operationally poor that if you have all the functions for the car on the screen, and you "turn off" the car, all operations disappear...even before you get out of the car) All my other vehicles turn off the gauge cluster and main screen when the doors are shut and locked.
- Pet mode....sure.

I have driven 2 Model Y’s since they first came out. I, frankly, love mine, but am considering changing (for odd personal reasons). I have read all the comments so far, but still want to know some more:
1. How does the drive/ride of the Mach-e compare to the MYLR;
2. What kind of battery does the MME have and what is it’s projected life span;
3. All things considered, is there a strong reason to switch to the MME when my MYLR is paid for?

OT How much smaller is the new Frunk? I'm looking at replacing my MY with a 2025 Mach E partly on the assumption the Frunk would be the size of the 2024 one I looked at.

As a current Model Y owner, the simplicity of the charge network and speed of charging plus the under floor storage / Frunk are the only benefits of the Model Y. The truly awful Adaptive Cruise, wipers and customer service ruin any possible benefits out side of the above.
This.

Other than terrible NVH + ride quality... Autopilot on my 3/Ys were brutal. I don't know why Tesla fanboys brag about it when it constantly disengaged or would mess up and phantom brake.

No. They are not drastically different. MME has 360 cameras, normal blind spot monitors, BlueCruise, etc. but the compact crossovers like the MYLR, MME, Ioniq 5, EV6 aren't all that drastically different. It's like picking a RAV4 or Tuscon. Different but far more similar than a Bronco or LandCruiser or Sequoia.

I have read, sorry - don't have a link, that Tesla took more than a few years to get it software in order. Tesla got a real head start, but expect other companies to catch up. My suspicion is it takes 5 years of real road experience by a hundred thousand cars to find most everything that can go wrong.

It's nice to have an excuse to drive the Infinity if it's a nice car. And, yes, depending on the route and what portion you can get at homes or hotels you aren't going to save money on energy. But, (serious question) have you looked into going pee, getting an enjoyable lunch, or enjoying a great latte? Once you start looking at charging stops as opportunities to enjoy yourself, your perspective might change.

That's one of the problems with the Tesla Supercharger network. Many of the locations are beside the freeway, and only near fast food restaurants. My favourite chargers are the slightly slower ones (even 50kW ones!) near the best restaurants. But even some superchargers are in great locations: the Hood River (OR) one is beside a nice brewery and the Columbia River. In Redding CA there is a freeway-side Tesla Supercharger with 44 stations (boring!), but there is another one by the beautiful Sundial Bridge (pedestrian bridge) where there is a nice cafe and there was a singer-songwriter playing country songs.

In Bend Oregon I wasn't going to hang out at a lame Supercharger when the 62kw Chargepoint DCFC was in the pretty downtown near all the best restaurants! We were impressed by Bend, great stroll, great meal. We wouldn't have even seen it if we were driving a gas car, or charging at Tesla Superchargers.

Maybe I've been able to shift my thought process because I'm closer to retirement and have more time. But, my road trips have become a lot better now that I have an excuse to search out a great place to stop for a bit and enjoy the journey. The driving is better (MachE is surely more fun to drive than an Infinity? Definitely better than my 2005 4Runner), and the journey is enhanced by the charging stops I choose.

Incidentally, ABRP had to remove their "amenity search" feature, which was useful to find restaurants or lodging near chargers. They promise to bring it back. You can do the search in PlugShare but it's a bit more manual.

That’s a great perspective, and likely very practical too in regards to rest, stretching, and seeing nice sights off the beaten trails. Actually, my wife and I are both retired now (three and four years respectively) and have already broken the twelve hours Chicago trip into a two-day affair to make it easier on ourselves (9 hours per day is now our practical limit).
I’ve been thinking about this from the perspective of time-efficiency, habits likely ingrained after decades of ICE-car driving, plentiful gas stations and five-minute stops. Driving pleasure or not (and we’ve owned some great driving cars) we’ve been the type that ‘just wants to get there’ as soon as possible, and put the driving behind us. Until non-Tesla public chargers become more plentiful and reliable, I would fear the horror stories I read and watch online about broken-down chargers and the remaining ones clogged by a long line of anxious drivers. You’ve managed to make these drives more of an adventure and take the time to seek out these more desirable charger locations which I’m also guessing will sometimes take you somewhat out-of-the-way and even add distance and time to your trips. Sadly, I don’t think we fit that profile, yet anyway, although it does sound like a nice profile!

If I'm taking a nice weekend leisurely drive, it certain isn't in an appliance like the Mach-E or Model Y. I'm 100% driving some fun like the Bronco.

But think of the heat pump!
Yes, they replaced a device that had zero moving parts (to generate heat) with a device that uses pumps, valves, and fluids to generate heat. And claim the tube Goldberg contraption is “more efficient” ?
