Yeah, going to the MME, that’s something I’m going to miss as I’m someone who actually uses the frunk in my Model Y. That must be one helluva heat pump.
My guess is that a lot of the parts for the heat pump are off the shelf parts that take up more room than they have to. Tesla probably squeezed the volume down by making their own purpose-built parts. I’m still interested in seeing a 2025 with the frunk tub removed to see how Ford packaged everything. ?‍♂?

This is such a ridiculous post... Tesla M3 and MY have so many advantages over the MME. Faster charging speed, better efficiency, better charging network, better audio system, quieter ride, better comfort, etc etc. I can only see two things where the MME may have the lead : styling, which is subjective, and not beeing associated to Elon Musk, which could be a thing in the future especially for resale value. And this is an MME owner speaking by the way.

Other than charging speed your points are all subjective. I've driven a newer MY on multiple occasions and the ride quality good however the 2024 AWD Mach is easily the best winter snow vehicle I've ever driven and i prefer a slightly sporty ride. You find the Mach E loud? Tesla's have way more sound complaints afaik. The Audio system is better compared to the Select model maybe, but the Mach's Premium B&O.... Charging speed? Meh, important to some i guess. We all have access to the same charging network. These 2 vehicles are a lot closer than you are alluding too.

The 8% interest at the time of purchase (Dec 2024) is what turned me off of the Tesla Y. Ford had .99% over 6 years, made a significant difference to the monthly payment.

However as dumb as this may sound, not having Carplay is a Huge issue in my opinion for the MY. You are basically forced to pay for that 15$/month data subscription which is a huge ripoff.

Efficiency is NOT subjective. It's a FACT. And it's very easy to check, as I did not later than last WE when I drove about 100km on the Highway following a friend driving a MY. We got the exact same conditions (+13°c, small lateral wind, dry road, one passenger per car, 120km/h most of the time). At the end of the trip, my MME was at 25kw per 100km (sorry I know this not the usual way for you Americans to give consumption numbers, but you'll do the math) and the MY was 4kw less. 4kw !!! that's 20% more efficient. And this kind of difference is well reported everywhere. The charging network may not be a thing in US but it is in France, where not a single operator can compete with Tesla on availability, reliability and price (for example, Ionity prices are DOUBLE than Tesla prices - easy check again, just look). Numerous youtube channels have reported that the M3 Highland and the MY Juniper are much quiter than the previous models, and taking drive on a friend's M3 Highland regulary, I can ensure you that the wind and road noise are higher on my MME. Using Waze on a daily basis, The lack of CARPlay/AA is surely a problem, just as the lack of Alexa, which I use to open portal or switch garden lights when I come back home. But I'd gladly trade this for a the speedy and responsive Tesla dashboard. And I didn't even talked about the useless OTA Ford sends us with NO improvement whatsoever, when Teslas are constantly updated and upgraded. I didn't even talked about the anemic and buggy infosystem, shutting the music when you switch between native and Android Auto, changing for plain light in the middle of the night for no reason, etc. And what about this wind noise from the left exterior mirror when I drive above 60km/h ? What about the noise from the subwoofer that Ford tried to fix with very limited success ? What about not beeing able to touch any button on the main screen when driving on a typical French road, because the suspension is so terrible ? What about this useless screen behind my wheel that has no purpose except displaying speed on the wrong place ? etc. etc. No car is perfect for sure, but Teslas are much better than MachE, and that's why they sell x10 here. Sorry to spoil the party, but wake up and face the facts.

The premium B&O sound system is terrible. Tesla's base model system is better and the premium sound system is very good. Tesla sound system in all models compares favorably to $100K vehicles. Not sure why tesla does not advertise the sound system more.

New model Y fixed every problem of the old one. Ride quality, quietness, etc.

The efficiency of new model Y also went up about 10% which is crazy because it was already way better than the mach e. Mach e battery is 20%+ larger to achieve the same range.

The mach e and model Y do not share the same charging network. Mach e can only use 58% of the tesla supercharger network including a lot of critical v3 and v4 stations.

Mach e also consumes 2 stalls which means that it cannot use superchargers that have a single gap available to use.

And a significantly larger frunk. Ford replaced the nice frunk with a fairly useless nano-frunk for 2025 ?
Yeah but a heat pump for heat instead of the resistance heater. The only thing in my frunk is a mint mouse repeller sachet. Mice ate the engine wiring harness of my 2015 mini. That coat me 3500 to fix. I c
Don’t even want to think about wiring harness and mice in Mach E. At least the mouse would be fried to crispy

My frunk gets used on an almost daily basis. Almost all purchases go in there, my rollaboard goes in there when I travel. Oh, and don’t forget the koi ?

From a technology perspective, tesla has a lot of things that most cars will not have for 10 years.

Tesla runs every safety system in the car with a set of cameras and self driving computer, meaning they can do things no other car can.

They do not have limitations of radar so the automatic emergency braking system can actually avoid accidents and see cars/pedestrians from further away instead of last minute.

The cars also can brake for cross moving traffic which is something no other car can do. (pedestrians, animals, cars that run red lights, etc.)

This saves $1000s of dollars too because you don't need separate blind spot, AEB, and adas systems.

new model Y refresh is manufactured for under $35K. Ford probably can't make the mach E for less than $45K and add in the 25% tariff and they are doomed.
