If you live in a snowy region. Get the all weather floor mats. The interior protection package is AWESOME!! They work great!!!
I didn’t order the all weather protection when I submitted but the more I see the trunk liner the more I want to add it all. Hopefully my dealer can get some in quickly

I like that you mention finishing charging shortly before you are ready to go, I have noticed that I get better battery performance when doing that, as the battery is all warmed up. My Clarity needs all it can get this time of year on it's 14kwh battery, and what you discuss absolutely helps. Fortunately I work from home so no commute.
the manual mentions if you have regularly daily commute time you can set the conditioning on charge right up until you plan to leave. you can set percent charge threshold as well as charge cutoff time

Note that on the Mach-E you can set all this up so it happens automatically.

Just tell the car you leave by 7am every day and to make it "hot" (use the highest temp). Sure you'll be sweating but the car won't use any heat for a lot of your drive as it will be warmer in the car than the heating setpoint (and you've heated the car up with power from the wall instead of the battery).

Once setup you just get in the car and drive without another thought.
Just remember that the juice coming out the wall is not free for most folks so excessive up front car conditioning maybe necessary to make the trip with the battery but it erodes some of the cost savings of a BEV.

sorry just want to touch on this - I know from years of experience on my 2013 Fusion Energi it won't activate climate / preconditioning ("Go Times") on 120V, only 240V (I've had people argue with me about this on FB but they are wrong; I've parked dozens of times at the airport on 120V and know it never does it on 120V).
My 2016 did, though. It was limited by 20 amp service, and wouldn't get nice and toasty warm like it would at work on the 220, but my windscreen was fully defogged, and it would be -5°C inside instead of -10°C like outside of the car.

The extra juice used to condition may be offset by less juice needed to get there. YMMV.

...partially offset....

We're not talking perpetual motion here. If you start driving in a cold car, it will use quite a bit of juice just to warm it up, more than it would if it is already warm. I can see that going up a hill right after I leave the house. It sucks up more than a mile of range when cold, substantially less when pre-warmed.

IOW, not TANSTAAFL but PMNOPML

Just like starting your ice car and letting it idle to preheat the cabin burns fuel ⛽.

I guess I don't really know. I had assumed that it would be able to precondition, regardless of whether it's plugged in. What if I have 100% battery and am willing to sacrifice some of that to have the car warm when I leave work? I hope we won't be restricted from doing that.
I'm sure you can precondition the cabin but not the battery. The problem I have with one of my BEVs when I do this is that if I precondition while it's NOT plugged in, it makes my miles/kWh look really bad and that large kWh usage with no miles will mess up your GOM for a while.

I do appreciate all the advise that is mentioned here in the post. This seems a lot of work and time spent getting the car ready to drive. With the charger supplied with the car, can the car be programmed for what your talking about? I was hoping to charge the car only once a week.
get in the habit of plugging in every night.... Lithium batteries LIKE to be charged up

My Tip - Figure out what motivates you more: comfort or maximizing miles/kWh.
1. In my Volt, I would squeeze out every electric mile I could. I’d drive with no/limited heat, draft other vehicles, drive 60 mph on the freeway, air up the tires, etc. I enjoyed the “game” of maximizing how far I could go on a charge, but I was often cold and it took extra time to commute (Ann Arbor to Toledo).

2. In my Bolt, I have no range anxiety (250 miles in summer, 160 in winter), so I just enjoy the ride. I set the cruise at 77 (instead of 60), set the cabin for ultra comfort (and not just the seat/wheel heater), never bother with all the pre-heating rituals, etc. (other than an occasional remote start at work, which I do for comfort not the extra m/kWh).

Turns out I’m definitely a number 2 kind of guy. I’ll never again deprive myself of heat, drive slower than I want, or do anything that detracts from my driving experience. This is probably why I like the Bolt WAY more than the Volt. If I’m in a mileage jam, I know what to do to “make it” to the nearest charger, but I expect this to happen fewer than 3 or 4 times over the life of the vehicle.

To thine own self be true.

I'd like everyone to drive as a number 1 for the first month so we can show how the MME compares to other cars. Then go crazy with your heat and speed. I will struggle to drive conservatively. I'll do it for a month to see how far I can go when it's necessary for a long trip or broken charger. (and as a game/challenge) Maybe I'll do some side by side tests with my other BEVs.

I know you can set schedules, but how can you pre condition on the fly - like need to run out for an earned and want to pre condition it off schedule?

Remote start it via the Ford Pass app.
