Touch Screen Fail

On Friday a Ford Mobile Service Tech came to our home and did a ‘recall’ software upgrade to our Mustang Mac-E.


On Saturday night at about 10PM we were returning from a friend’s house and when we turned on the car there was a line of light going across the drivers instrument panel from left to right. The touch screen went black and stayed black for the remainder of out trip home. The radio and air conditioning continued as they had been previously set but they could not be changed or adjusted. We had to go in reverse for part of the trip and the cameras did show up on the touch screen and when we entered our garage the side warning lights and image did come on. Otherwise the touch screen was black and unavailable for the entire trip. We did not try voice commands.


This morning we tested the car and the touch screen came on.

if the console touchscreen went black once, it will fail again... the screen and a few modules need to be replaced. Make an appt w Dealer, let them know so they can order parts and schedule....

I had mine replaced after 2 or 3 repeatable fails. Mine failed anytime I parked facing south and it got too hot. Dealer Service replaced it in about 2 hours.

My touch screen went black a few days ago. I had been driving the vehicle and stopped to park it. Fifteen minutes later, when I restarted the vehicle, the touch screen was black. It remained black for the rest of the day and the next morning. I did the "Sync4 Reset" by holding down some buttons on the steering wheel, and the screen came back on.

if it failed once, it will likely fail again.... you might want to bring to dealer to get the DTC verified, and they request parts and training to replace/update the Display modules as needed.
