We do a few times a year… probably 250mi further trip one-way… typically around Christmas, so winter range

We do go skiing which is hard with the mach e, would love if the middle rear seat had a poke through hole on the arm rest… though the escape didn’t have it either

I don’t think she’d seek an EV yet, though I did get an extended warranty and paid for 3yrs BC on my ‘21…. So can at least get the value out of that

Compares to what we owe on the financing for the escape, we could probably get ~3k higher than what we owe for it… the ‘21 mach e, either turn it on part of options, or a trade is is pretty much net 0 (I did get an appraisal)
250 miles one way isn't bad at all. Maybe one 5-10 minute charging stop, longer if you need extra range to drive around in town once you arrive. I do 850 miles each way for the holidays in my CR1, but my family is weird.

You could get a roof rack for the skis. It will affect range a bit due to aerodynamics, but not badly. I have the Thule roof rack, and it works well.

spouse said to me tonight “instead of trading in your car, what if we sold mine and I took yours”. She has a ‘20 escape titanium.
Your wife is clear that she wants to drive a Mach E. If you reject her proposed transactions, there’s a good chance that you won’t get to drive a Mach E again (because she will).

We went 100% EV in November. Then drive 5,300 miles to California.

Just bought (2) new 2023 ME’s last month! Deals were great and the quality over the Tesla M3 is so much better. Plus all the Tesla charging, bingo! ??

I wouldnt own 2 of the same car in case there's a problem that would brick both. But I think ford has worked out most of the kinks with the mach e by now.

Ford Mustang Mach-E Two mach e? Am I crazy? IMG_9678

Been a 2 MME family since March of 21. Not crazy at all. Well I may be, but the idea is not.

If you are thinking of getting a GT, then yes, go for the 2024. If you are going Premium, then I would take a hard look at a 2023 and compare against the 24 - deal and differences. There are some features you will loose on the 24, that the 23 will have. Make sure any of those changes are not important ones for your situation. As others have said, the "new" battery (LFP) is only on the standard range in both 23.5 and 24's. If you are going long-range battery, those are all the "old" battery.

I wanted the new battery on the '24 and new engine - don't really see any '23 premium's left in my area

Guess it's an interesting idea about just renting a car if needed...

Never had 2 of the same car before... feel like there's judgement in that LOL
Personally, I love my Mach e but I wouldn’t get two Mach Es. Main reasons are 1) what if there’s a serious issue / recall for the Mach e? Now you are potentially out both cars. 2) I just like the variety of being able to change it up occasionally.

Having two EVs is great though. You should go ahead with your wife’s plan but look into a different EV for yourself

Life is too short to own 2 exactly same vehicles at the same time when they're so many excellent choices.
