Have just been on to the UK website and the compare model specs tab is not connecting to the relevant page. Could this be a precurser to a price reduction and/or spec change? Will have to wait and see

Apparently Emma Berg has told someone on Twitter that the U.K. is not getting a price reduction.

The logic in this whole price drop thing could be in relation to the number of pre-orders that have converted to full orders. Maybe the conversation rate in USA wasn’t as good as expected, so a price drop was put in to make it a more attractive deal to lure anyone sitting on the fence.

As we’ve not had the chance to order convert in the UK yet they don’t know economically if they need to put any incentives in place.

Just a thought :)

Anyone have any ideas on RWD Extended Range vs AWD Standard Range. Price-wise they are only £3000 apart but it's weighing up the range plus tech toys vs the AWD plus great alloys. I really cannot choose.

Unfortunately it is a personnel thing that you will have to decide. My original preorder was for the RWD SR but when I saw the car in person I found out that it was really basic, manual seats, no lumber support. Looked at AWD SR to get better seats but not much tech. Settled for RWD ER as I get all that I want. My ethos was that if I am paying this much for a new car it needs to be better than my current car, which is a Kuga ST Line X. I don't need AWD so I think I have made the correct decision. It all depends on your priorities, needs and wants.

As @portlandg says it’s a very individual call that only you can make based on your circumstances.
I’ve went for the AWD SR because living up here in ‘sunny’ Scotland I’d prefer the security of AWD during the winter months. I can’t justify going to AWD ER. ?
Sure, I’m going to miss out on the Tech pack but I can live with that. I’ll especially miss the Panorama Roof and the hands free tailgate though ☹
I don’t think the driver based tech will get to a level that I personally would trust it for at least another few years so I’m OK with missing out on that.
You have to decide on what choice meets your requirements. Good luck!?

I went on holiday to Scotland a few weeks back and used it as a hypothetical how would I complete this journey if I had my Mach-E.

I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of rapid charge infrastructure which was working and available on the route, but less impressed by the prices they were charging.

This is how I’ve come to know the rapid charge rates for most of the UK networks - if you want a real eye watering rate - Ionity at Gretna Green Services on the A74(M) were charging an eye watering 69p/kWh
Just for fun, I just used ABRP with the MME ER battery plugged in to "plan" a trip from my Grandparents last home in Dagenham up to my mother's hometown of Ayr, Scotland. Starting at 80% charge, it shows 2 stops along the route, 1 to charge from roughly 25% to 60% in/near Birmingham and the other from 10% to 86% in Preston East (?) arriving in Ayr at 10%.

418 miles and 8 hours 10 minutes. About 51+ mph average including the stops. That should equate to around 135 kWh of charging before arrival in Ayr.

So what would approximate charges be on that type of route for the enroute charging?

For the Americans among us, that's almost exactly the same distance as San Jose California to San Diego California.

Wow. To do that journey we would have to go through numerous counties and cross to another country. You are still in the same state. We have many different charging networks all with different pricing. From my research prices can range from 15p/kwh to 69p/kwh. At current exchange rate that is roughly 32c to 89c. That's for DC charging. @Wonky_Donkey might be the best person to confirm this as I believe he has just done a road trip to Scotland in an EV. I'm still ICEing. To do that trip in my Kuga would cost me about £70 ( $90)

It was idle curiosity mostly. A DCFC in Hawaii runs 51¢ per kWh, and they're all 50 KW chargers here so those charges would be longer time-wise and amount to about $70 USD (£54 or so). Hawaii also has the highest electrical rates in the USA so you're well beyond that even. Petrol prices run around $3.40 per US gallon or about 70p per liter.

All in all, I'd say we're still getting the better bargain.

Not planning on making that trip anytime soon. My MME will be on this island not that one, and my non-USA aunts and uncles all live in England now as do my first cousins. If I go to Ayr again, it'll be by probably be plane to Prestwick.

I have finally chosen a model and have tried to order it. I cannot get past the enter details page. It just hangs. I have done it on all browsers (mac) and also on pc now.
Anyone registered as a business?

Had this reply from Rebecca (@Ford) the other day in response to my question regarding the recently announced MME price drop and whether it is likely to be applied to us as well.

With regards the US price it’s US only and no does not affect us over here, sorry!

Bit of a shame, but we have still got a few months to go so all is not lost.
