Had this reply from Rebecca (@Ford) the other day in response to my question regarding the recently announced MME price drop and whether it is likely to be applied to us as well.

With regards the US price it’s US only and no does not affect us over here, sorry!

Bit of a shame, but we have still got a few months to go so all is not lost.
Has VW announced the price of the ID.4 yet, cause this is the key point IMO, no ID.4 pricing yet in Canada, and no price reduction for the MME yet.

As it happens, I went on to VW website this morning to have a look, No real information on there yet, you cant preorder and NO prices. You can only sign up for info. I wonder if they will be any better at that than Ford have been. I signed up so it will be interesting to see. STILL prefer the overall looks of the MME though

They do. It’s called hydrothermal. @Kamuelaflyer can tell you all about it.
Puna Geothermal Plant. It provides the island with around 20% of its electricity. It just came back online a few months ago after being out due to damage it received (and being cutoff) during the 2018 Kilauea eruption. I've been told the now former (houses overrun by lava) neighbors did not like the plant as it was quite noisy.

Good thing, I didn't new about that , in fact my post was at the beginning that I wanted to make a joke but it did fall short because it does exist.

Oh yeah, I knew you were kidding. Geothermal power is a unique thing. California has some, IIRC, in the Calistoga area of Sonoma County. But it's not easy to do, not cheap to do, and noisy apparently. Go figure.

This particular plant was partially overrun (an underground tank or two I think) by lava from the 2018 fissure 8 eruption in the lower Puna district of Hawaii island. 600+ homes lost as well. That area was a known "active" area but had not had an eruption since roughly 1960, so a lot of lower cost homes were there (aka "affordable") The then current eruption was at Pu`u O`o and had been ongoing for 32 years without stop. It couldn't get to Kapoho as lava doesn't flow uphill absent a huge volume of lava. Instead, Madame Pele just started a new eruption near the poor little village of Kapoho and drained Kilauea's summit reservoir completely to fuel the inundation. Never mess with the volcano goddess. ;)

Lots of Scotsmen jumped ship in Hawaii back in the day. That's how this isn't off-topic on UK customers and their ongoing "Order a Mach-e saga." :)

Hi guys
Any recommendations for EV charger in UK?
The car comes with a Ford Variopower lead which you can plug into a normal 3 pin socket or a high power (32amp) Commando socket. This socket box can be purchased from various online outlets for about £30. You will need an electrician to install it but it costs a lot less than a wall box and will charge at almost the same rate. I am having to enlarge my garage so I can get my MME in and this is what I am having installed. Hope this helps.

The problem is that I recently buy a PHEV for a second car and I need wall box at home to charge both cars /PHEV and MME/

I’ve not got any installed yet but have been looking at Pod Point and Andersen.
In Scotland we get another £300 grant on top of OLEV (at the moment anyway! ? )
Andersen looks tidier and the cable is stored within the unit but is quite a bit more expensive!
Last time I checked I think the Pod Point would cost around £259 with Scottish grant or £559 with just OLEV grant.
Andersen comes in at a mighty £745 or £1045 with just OLEV grant!
No doubt I’ve still got plenty of time before I get my MME to decide!

I wish I had the money to get a GT. That looks so good.

I had a 40amp fuse box put in and a cable to the front of the house when it was remodelled. I am on the hunt for a good home charger also.
At the moment the wallbox or pod point seems good to me. Any insights into them?

That is the only snag with the commando socket. Most EV's (as far as I can tell) only come with type2-type2 lead or granny charger(some, Peugeot, springs to mind) don't even supply that. It is my intention to keep this one for a long time so I should be ok for a few years.

I have good search but can’t decide between Pod point, Zappi and Andersen
Andersen looks great but cost double than others. Also don’t understand which one need earth rod and which can be instal without.
Sorry if my question sound stupid but I’m very new with this.
