Can I change the subject as it is too depressing hearing all your cars are actually cars and not a figment of Ford's imagination. So - has anyone looked into the cost of insurance for the magnificent beast? The insurance companies have no history to go on and that would usually ramp up the cost. Anyone found an insurer yet? If so - how much? Cheers y'orll.

Although the Mach-E is a much higher group than my current car, I managed to get a quote from the Meerkats for £240 a year which I thought was pretty good.

You mentioned that because it was a new car it was an unknown and likely to be higher - that’s not how insurance companies work these days thankfully. The car has been analysed and rated based on construction, replacement cost, and accident prevention safety features.

There are some crazy quotes out there! On the comparison sites I found only about 2 or 3 that would give me a sensible quote and all have an excess of at least £400. I was quoted about £400 a year and I believe ford give you a year's breakdown cover so you don't need to include that.

The crazy quotes were in their £1000!

Also surprising LV advertise they do electric but dont quote for it yet.

Also go with gocompare and they give you cover for £250 of that excess. Via a cashback site you might get a little extra money back.

Unfortunately the high value of the car does attract a bit of a compulsory excess. £400 is about the norm for a vehicle that costs about £50k

I had an absolutely daft quote from a company called Sterling Insurance- they wanted £1,646 a year (£1,900 if paid monthly) with a £1000 compulsory excess. Told them to get f..... ?

Quick update, out of curiosity I tried a new order today for an Iconic Silver SR RWD and it is quoting 10 weeks i.e. last week in April.

Makes me think that as Grahame theorised unsold/cancelled orders will be shipped to the UK most likely on the Grande Houston to arrive here mid April along with the other built cars we have ordered.

I've been occasionally trying black ER rwd and a few other combinations in case I could alert people here to grab it but they have all come up as 20 + weeks.

It says 10 to 14 weeks.

It has been weeks since any showed with an ER spec with less that 20+ weeks.

If anyone wants it, you will have to be quick. Very quick.
