The RWD ER I drove yesterday did not have ambient lighting yet the AWD ER in the showroom did.

It has also disappeared from my ‘VIN Specific’ digital owners manual.
I can find a distinct lack of info on which model does and does not have ambient lighting. I hope they don't take away my ambient lighting and my puddle lights. I think the kids are more excited about the puddle lights than the car itself......

I checked the email re the mache tour/test drives - we get to drive the car not be escorted. Which is a shame as I was going to ask to be taken to a lap dancing bar and dropped off but instead have to drive myself there and have to be back within an hour.

I would have hoped that’s the case but seeing as the RWD ER does not have ambient lighting I’m suspicious.
Won’t be long before the big tablet starts serving you pop up ads for an OTA ambient lighting upgrade.

Well, when I asked the Ford rep during my test drive yesterday why some models didn’t have ambient lighting, he said it was just an OTA upgrade.

I think it would be more an issue with hardware than software. Otherwise, why not put them in all cars and not put (if fittted) in the owners manuals?

Unless like me you're under 28 and the insurance doesn't cover it! I'm going to have to bring my dad or something ? way to go Ford!

??‍♂
But I think you’re right re: hardware. Tbh I’d be a bit disappointed if we started seeing software unlocks on hardware... I think if your car has the hardware, it should be useable from point of purchase.

Not Ford- insurance companies annoyingly. I'm nearly 70 and having a road test in 4 weeks, but I still have to jump through the hoops first. Wouldn't surprise me if I have to have an eye test beforehand...

You could always take out your own insurance for the day so you could drive it.

That's interesting. I'm not far behind you, have a test drive booked for 8th May and my dealer has not mentioned anything about insurance to me.

The dealer that I’ve booked my test drive with hasn’t even asked me my age! I’m 41 though so should be ok!?
All he told me to do was to get a code using Share My Licence on Gov.uk to give to them and they’ll just treat it like a hire.

I hadn’t either but I used my licence along with my insurance number on the Gov.uk website to generate the code number. Probably your dealer will just do it at their end.
We shouldn’t really be surprised that there’s not a consistent approach now should we?!
The main thing is we should all finally get to drive the thing!?

Is it the Arnold Clark Garage in Glasgow you’re going? I’ve got my test drive tomorrow (Thursday) 5.30pm. 1 hr unaccompanied. cant wait.

Yes, it is.

Have fun but not too much. I’m booked in for 11.30 on Saturday morning and I want the cars to still be in good condition!?

Above is a link to a piece about ev battery life that was posted by @steverm so my thanks to him. If like me you are new to ev's its quite a good detailed read. Think bottom line is battery life in an EV should if looked after outlast the life of the car. It shows why Ford seem to limit the fast charging to 80% to protect battery life.
