Date officielle de Ford Suisse pour la release du patch de l'ECall, 16 juin.... fingers crossed... ?
Translation - Ford Switzerland official date for the release of the ECall patch, June 16 ...

Hopefully this means, as some of us already suspected, that the fix is ready and is being tested before being officially released to dealers!

If Ford are reading this and want any more volunteers, I am more than happy to for them to release my car from the Dealers compound and I can be their guinea pig ;)

The way things are going that would mean the fix would be implemented by July 16......

If a Mach E is charging via a Type 2 cable, does anyone know if the cable is locked to the car while the car is locked and charging? Also does the car have to be left switched on to charge or can it be turned off?
Hiya - apologies for a delayed reply.

When charging - all cables will lock regardless of type or location. It’s a security feature to stop cable theft and malicious unplugging, and it’s a safety feature in that the electricity only flows when all cables are securely connected in place.

Most cars will only let you charge while switched off. This is a safety feature to make sure you don’t try and drive off with a cable plugged in. You can run accessory mode while charging though so in car features are available while charging.

Hope this helps :)

Assuming you're trying to do the f12 thing?

I use a microsoft surface pro that has edge, never use that-can't stand it! I use Chrome and can access f12 info- not that much is happening as the car was only built a week or so ago!

Just thinking ahead, with regards to charging I have seen a video from USA showing the different charging options, one of which is just plugging into a domestic 32amp supply, if I was to have a 250v 32amp Blue socket installed will this be an option to change the MME, if so what would the charging time be. By the way the car I have ordered is the standard battery rear wheel drive. Not sure if I am posting this on the right thread so I apologise in advance if this is the case.

Hi @TonyA , I'm guessing you mean a commando socket? I'm certain one of our members @portlandg has done this with success. I'm sure he'll be along to answer you.
And yes, this is the right thread to post UK questions etc :)

So quick answer - yes you can charge your vehicle at home if you have a 32A Commando socket installed.

The included Ford Varicharger unit supplied with the car has an adaptor to use this method of charging, and in regards to cost of installation is also the cheapest option to give you a 7kW rate of charge (fastest possible on a domestic supply) ... but I have not checked the waterproof rating on the Varicharger so it might only be useable if charging in a garage space rather than a driveway. A properly installed EVSE home charger unit is recommended for all weather charging outdoors.

On a standard range RWD model you have a useable battery capacity of 68kW.

68kw (battery capacity) divided by 7kWh (max amount of kilowatts you can squeeze in over an hour - or "charge rate") = a very approximate 9¾ hrs charge speed (probably a bit slower - but works as a rough guide)

Hope that helps.

thanks Wonky Donkey, I will be keeping the car under my car port, I currently have a domestic supply under the car port so I would like to just increase the supply. if this would allow me to charge the car on an evening, most mileage I do in a day is around 90 miles.

If you just have a standard 3pin plug supply under your car port - you can use this with the Varcharger using the other adaptor supplied, but it will take twice as long as a standard plug can only safely supply a maximum of 3kW.

If I'm understanding you correctly and its just a standard three pin 13A socket in your car port - but you'd like to upgrade it to a 32A commando socket - you will need to get an electrician to run a dedicated 32A feed from your fuse box/consumer unit. It's also wise if you are doing this to get them to review your overall household load as not all household supplies have the same input capacity.

Some houses have a 100A supply from the local network, which gives plenty of scope for adding extra stuff on, while others (even houses in the same street) can only have a 60A main supply. What you don't want to find is that you have a 60A supply from the grid, and you turn on the oven and washing machine at the same time as having the car charging and you start to pull more than 60A and you blow your main fuse.... and that's not fun as you would have to call the electricity supplier out to change it as it's on the network side of your meter.

Basically if in any doubt - call a qualified electrician to review your house electrics to double check you're not going to cause any problems. :)

Well folks - I have been waiting patiently since I ordered my Carbonised Grey First Edition back in December 2019. I have not been bugging the concierge - just waiting patiently. A week ago I had an email from Ford advising me that delivery would be in 1 to 2 weeks. I then contacted my dealer Haynes of Maidstone who told me that they had received my car from Dagenham and it was currently in their holding depot in Sheerness having their PDI. I had thought it was still in Antwerp. Suddenly my FordPass app sprang into life and confirmed that it was indeed in Sheerness, it had a total of 19 miles on the clock, it was 100% charged with an anticipated range of 311 miles and it even told me the tyre pressures. The only thing it did not tell me was when the bug in the ECall program would be fixed and I could take delivery. Watch this space...it should be next week!
Cheers Graham (the one without an E)

This is exactly what I have done in my garage and yes it works just fine. Cheaper than a wall box, charges just as fast and you can programme the car to charge on cheap rate. You do need a dedicated fuse and professional installed wiring like the wall box but the socket itself only cost me £32 from Amazon.

Congratulations. Nearly there. Hopefully you will be enjoying your car very soon. I am sure you won't be disappointed. Grahame (the one with an E)
