PM sent. I’m test driving on the 11th at 1pm. I can’t wait to see one in real life!!

I think we're all emotional at this point. It's definitely getting worse nearer to the end of the process though. Mind you, I was struggling to be patient about 5 minutes after placing my order last year! The process and lack of comms keeps making me look at all the other electric cars and nothing still comes close to the Mach E. The EV6 is very pretty, but only if you don't walk around the back, and deliveries starting after Oct 2021 mean I'm not going through this again only for Kia, which I'm nowhere near as excited about, to then slip week by week as the deadline draws near anyway. I'd be sulking every time I saw or read about a Mach E, knowing I could have been driving one from June (ish....maybe May, maybe July, who knows?!?) ;) Anyway, I'm in this until my Mach E gets delivered :)

I think I prefer the Ioniq 5 over the EV6, except it makes no sense that it doesn't perform quite as well as the EV6..... I wonder if that will change when they get into production.

So if our test drive is for the allotted hour we'll be back about 12.30pm. Wear a carnation and I'll look out for you ;) ??

Exchanged e-mails with your contact (thanks) My car is due to start production 25/05/21 with eta at the dealer 11/09/21... whatever!
I've kept an eye on the ioniq and EV6. First glance great. But when I look harder and check the specs-not a chance thanks. Not a cheap option either.

I watched the latest you-tube video from 'Harry's garage yesterday' (a must see channel btw) he had a R-type Golf series 8 on test. He wasn't that impressed. But £53k?? wtf!

I'm in no rush. The Mach E ticks all the boxes and I sense it'll have soul

Newtownards Road. I asked them to check vista while I was at my test drive. Came back telling me all they can see is compound out at Veracruz. Really confused how some dealers can seem to get updated info from vista when mine can't. very strange indeed.
Mine is with Lisburn ford, I'll let you know what they say on Thursday.

For comparison purposes only would you guys like to see the EV6 spec and price sheet?

I've had quite a lot of DM's this evening from this thread asking for info which I have, but as I said I don't want to upset the apple cart. It also appears that the consensus is that they have already produced the vehicles ready for shipping in a few weeks - so no semiconductor issues for the first run at least.

Go for it Wonky! Comparing the mache with the competition is healthy. And probably a breath of fresh air to take our minds off the mache wait at least.
You can all feel good about the superior range on the Mach-E :)

It's kind of fun to compare and the EV6 does have some awesome features, but are you really wanting to wait until at least October to get one just because of poor comms from Ford? Any uncertainty I've seen aimed at Ford i.e. lack of EV experience, lack of software experience etc can equally be levelled at Kia. It obviously depends on what is important to you individually, but the statement you made about cars built and ready to go could have been said about Ford last Nov/Dec and look where we are now. There is no guarantee Kia will be any better, and many of their specs are worse for the price than the Mach E (depending on what you are looking for). Has there actually been a smooth EV launch from any manufacturer?

It sounds like you might have a really good Kia dealer, which is totally the opposite of me, so maybe I'm unfairly biased. In fact the thought of my Kia and Hyundai dealers is enough to put me off their EVs. Their lack of knowledge in their own range of existing cars is astounding, let alone their knowledge of cars available to preorder, and I used to be a Hyundai fan. The dealer put me off....lovely people but no idea about their cars and they never wanted to sell me want I went in for, otherwise I'd have owned more Hyundai over the years.

I think my lack of love for car dealers in general has been expressed in one or two of my previous posts, so maybe I had lower expectations of Ford coming into this from a customer service perspective. Even though I preordered last September I didn't actually ask what my ETA was until January, so in my perspective it hasn't even slipped that far i.e. about a month from the original date that I was given. And, lets face it Ford did step up and resolve the 3k grant issue even if it did take a bit of time.

Good Morning, all,

So, like a lot of you I'm one of the customers who is struggling. Last night I put all the pros and cons in to a spread sheet and scored them including the delivery in favour of Ford.

I think all car dealers are sh**e so I didn't score that. The six month delay from Ford is the reasons we are still here talking about this but I've not factored it. It's the reason I need to refinance or sell and buy a temp car but I've not marked the MME down on that.

I must admit the test drive has left me less sure not more. Boot space is a real problem for me even with the floor lowered. The car seems longer but smaller then I remembered when I saw the prototype.

My scores are private and only relevant to me but it's the only way I can take the emotion out of such a large purchase. The MME is clearly a great car, £15k cheaper than the iPace and in many ways a much better vehicle. I think the design is far better than any Tesla. Nobody should have buyer's guilt for choosing such an excellent product.

Again it's crazy you have to spend 48k to get a power tailgate!

And the base model doesn't even have front parking sensors.
You have to spend more to get a powered tailgate on the mache! It's only on the ER.

The specs are good and awd cheaper.

I wonder when do test drives start or is this another leap into the unknown?

Not one for me though for various reasons, the brand for me is a discount brand and when I look at our local dealership in Altrincham it looks it. If I'm paying £50k ish I would not want to also be driving that brand. For this kind of money I want something distinct.

The range isn't good enough for me.

Availability is Oct which could be another one of those bs targets, I just can't now wait any longer.

I also think the mache will hold value better esp with the £3k discount. It will be rare to see in at least the next 6months.

And after this journey to throw in the towel now, cant do it. I nearly have in recent months but the fun bit could be very soon.

Thanks for that @Wonky_Donkey. It is nice to see the differences. A car is personal so what (generically) you look for in a car is also personal. What one person likes isn't necessary what another person likes so all this back chat and criticism over one persons thoughts are not needed or suitable.
I think, looking at the above, the MME is still the car for ME. Yes it falls short on a couple of things but it also has more bang for the bucks (certainly with the Ford covered £3000 off). If I had lost the PICG then it might be a different matter. However, I also buy a car on how it looks. Inside and out. In this, in my opinion, the MME wins hands down. Watching videos on YouTube it looks nice on the road from all angles. Although I don't see it when driving I would rather not have anyone saying "look at that, it looks awful". But, obviously, some will.
I think what I am saying here is this. Make the decision on what YOU want out of a car. Don't listen or be swayed by other peoples comments. Like I tell my customers. I can only point out the pros and cons to you. It is your money so you spend it and have what YOU want. As long as you have all the info you should be able to make the right choice for YOU. Good luck

I know Steve, that's why i said "Again"

Ford have gone for fancy electronic door latches which lock you out if the 12v battery is flat but don't put in a powered boot!

Makes the 40k Tesla model 3 seem a bargain with its pan roof and 360 cameras, if only I could stomach it's looks!
