Glad I did not listen to some of the EXPERTS and went ahead and queried the low range showing after a charge on my ER RWD. My logic was simple if a battery has a capacity which is intended to give a range it should show that range or at least close to it when charged.
My dealer had my car back yesterday and low and behold it appears there were a number of updates which the car needed, one of which they advised affected the range shown.
Now a full charge shows a starting range of 368 miles and 80% 294. After that all the other issues kick in, style of driving, speed, weather conditions, equipment in use in car etc and I might only get 320 miles actual but at least my starting position is right.(PS not that I would ever let the battery fully run down) Previously 100% might have shown 305 and I only got 240.

I would like to know which EXPERTS you are referring to. As far as I am aware no one has professed to being an expert. Some on here have had their cars longer than others and all we are doing is sharing our experiences, our theories and thoughts with others. Whether you want to listen or not is entirely up to you. If you have only recently had your dealer "look" at your car and download some updates then it would be logical to think that these updates, generally known as FSA's which can only be carried out by a dealer and NOT generally communicated to owners, have been issued after any information/theories shared by members on the forum so it is possible that Ford have picked up/known about an issue.
It's not a case of the WRONG information given, but possibly more to do with the information being correct at the time of publishing but being superseded later. Perhaps anybody posting in future should add a disclaimer. Or better still, just don't try to help. Obviously some people don't appreciate it.

I very very much doubt any update has increased anything.

I'd imagine it reset your GOM during the update process and you're just looking at a 'new' car again.

Then again, I'm not an EXPERT.

The Sales Manager from the dealership came and delivered my green number plates last weekend which was nice of him. He was quizzing me on range and actual vs displayed as they keep resetting their Company Chairman's AWD ER to make the range look good..... obviously it reverts once a few miles are driven dependent on the style of driving.
All I know is driving my AWD SR on the motorway you get approx 180 miles which I fully expected as I never intended to drive at 55mph with the stereo off. Display shows 2.8 mile/KWh on the motorway which adds up to roughly 190 miles 100 - 0% so makes sense to me and we get between 3.5 and 4.2 on local driving displayed all of which makes sense on the 68KW/h battery pack installed with my maths.

I really don't get this obsession with displayed range some people have. Nobody with a petrol car drives around staring at the distance to empty estimate, you only look at that in earnest when you're nearly empty, so why on earth do people obsess over an estimated range with an EV?

Look at the battery percentage, sure, look at the miles/kw, of course, but the mileage estimate is just an estimate and will never be the actual range of your vehicle.

Not directed at any one person, just a rant after seeing this crop up again and again, here, WhatsApp and Facebook.

Well funnily enough I just went out to the car and turned it on - and then refreshed my FordPass app - and hey presto, Securialert appeared in the app. I can now turn it on and set schedules.....

Hi @KBahn

I noticed on your post that the app shows your "Extended Warranty".

Is this the "Electric Pack" that includes the servicing etc.? I can't recall seeing any other Extended Warranty when I ordered the car nor when I took delivery?

Even on my Ford Account it doesn't show any warranty details ?

Just interested as am slightly confused (what's new ??)

Thanks
David

Hi David,

I have the extended warranty and it shows the same.

I purchased an extra 2 years the same as the original warranty. It was described as 3+2 hence the 5 years.

The ‘Electric Packages’ are entirely different.

I looked at these but, as there is very little to service or replace, they seemed quite expensive.

I decided to run the risk of seeing how much a regular service is once they have worked out a proper price. ??

yes, as davkd said, I bought the 3+2 60,000 extended warranty for £290 - seemed like a cheap way to bet some extra peace of mind….

Just had notification of a successful update. Now got power up 1.6. Wonder what happened to 1.5. Never mind. It'll be interesting to see if I notice anything different in the morning.

I was wondering if your VIN is one of the first ones in the UK as you get the update before anyone else. Last time a few of us got the update at the same time where you had it a few days before.

I doubt it works like that.

Mine was a cancelled order and one of the first off the production line for the UK (built 28/11/2020).

I received the last update after @portlandg and @Wonky_Donkey.

It’s just Ford being Ford! ??

Thinking about doing the same. It does seem cheap though?

I THINK this one can only be purchased up to the day you pick up the car. If you find I am wrong please let me know because I'd like this warranty as well!

Been to my dealers today to try and figure the reason my tailgate will open every time but not close (hands free operation).

Colin from service came out. Tried the loan car also.

Worked with the key in my hand but not in my pocket.

We all tried it. Worked sometimes but not others.

Verdict - No fault with the car. Signal not getting through thick pockets / closing not as sensitive.

Any other solutions gratefully received. ??
