The biggest issue is that the US and EU are more closely aligned as to what their cars are allowed to do/have installed than we are in the UK. We are more restricted as to what the car can/can't do for insurance restrictions and compliance regulations. This means that our software updates have to be rewritten/tweeked for our cars. It then has to be tested before it is rolled out. As has been mentioned on here before not all cars get the same updates. RWD SR cars get different updates than AWD SR and so on and so on. And because of Ford's systems restrictions they can't do a blanket OTA. They have to be staggered. That is my understanding anyway. Hopefully I will speak to someone face to face on Friday and clarify this.Hopefully theyre catching the EU cars up to the US ones - which are light years ahead of ours
